Lily was torn, the obvious target was the looming mutated bear, but there was a frankly more terrifying spirit between her and it and Lily had no intention of inadvertently hitting the roiling storm cloud and risk pissing it off… it looked more than capable of dealing with the bear on its own. So instead she swung the rifle to her shoulder and sighted through the scope down towards the approaching truck, hoping to get a better idea of whether it might contain their target or more bear hunters or someone else…

    Perception 10D +3D Visual +using rifle scope = 4 hits

Oh frag Lily barely had time to think to herself as a shocking wave of lurid gelatinous bile came spewing towards her from the bear that thing is casting spells at me? She didn’t need to think about her response as the jacks in her legs propelled her in to the air with a mighty leap to clear the rapidly approaching toxic slick

    > The bear is casting spells now, I could use some support up here!

She reluctantly sent to the group as she tried to put more distance between her and the monstrous beast

Kynos had honestly waited for something like that to happen. Inaction always made him depressed.

“Open an air shaft and let me out now, that sounds like a it could use some APDS to solve.”

Kynos waited the endless seconds that it took earth and stone to part for him, while already starting to climb out.

next round Kynos comes to Lily’s aid

The air spirit churns through the air briefly, before turning towards the ‘bear’ and throwing a spear of lightning at it — a site like this may have inspired the stories of Zeus, so ominous is the bolt.

Yet somehow the bear makes a twisting leap behind one of the fir trees and the lighting strike instead shatters the tree, with a bang that must have been heard for kilometers. So great was the violence of the strike that the tree does not burn, instead it simply seems to have been blown into small pieces that have been scattered in all directions.

Again the air spirit casts a spear of lightning, and again at the last moment the bear manages to twist away, but clearly it is leaping for its life and barely staying ahead of the attacks.

Kynos took a second to aim at the giant bear. Distance was a bit farther than he’d have prefered, but at least there was not much wind at the moment.

A short burst rattled from the barrel of his rifle as three tungsten-carbid bullets made their way towards the target.

Batshit move to the hole as krynos Beat her to the punch. As he cleared the shaft she leapt up.

Kynos was already engaging the beast bear thing, so she swung round to the truck a activated the sensor suit in her helmet to see if she could Id the occupant

    Al didn’t move.

    Sian made the hole.

Kynos was up it like a rabbit.

Then Ace was somehow scrambling up through the earth, somehow using loose roots for purchase.

    Dirt rained down.

No point in standing under the gravel shower just to have to wait for the others to clear the hole.

Al wasn’t entirely sure he was tall enough to even reach the entrance to the shaft anyway.

The bear’s head swiveled towards Kynos just before he made his shot, and it managed to push itself in a new direction. For a moment Kynos thought that he had hit despite the bear’s gyrations, but then he saw some fur floating toward the ground and the bear not slowed at all.

The Hunter who had stood up moments before runs down the small hill toward Lilly, remarkably
quickly for a human running on all fours. As he reaches the bottom he
roars and blasts out a stream of foulness, an oily blast of air that
smells something like skunk spray that had been bottled and allowed to
ferment crossed with the smell of week old corpses.
