    It’s actually been quite a while.

    You met with Andrew around noon.

    An hour later or so, you did your ritual with Green Toes. That took an hour, so we’re probably around 14:30 at this point, including the back-and-forth to the park where you met.

    Then you rescued some Brain Eaters (10 minutes), drove to Snohomish (45 minutes) then Everett (another 20 minutes), met with First Nations (15 minutes), then down to Tarislar (90 minutes), met with Fun Boy (15 minutes), then drove back to Redmond (75 minutes). So that big loop – taking you to the north side of the ‘plex and then to the very south edge and then back again – is almost four and a half hours. So now it’s probably 19:00 and very much dinnertime.

    @All You have a couple hours to eat/rest/prep before the party. Is there anything that people want to do?

    @beta Note that sunset was back around 16:30, so Red Jacket Boy has departed. If Jawsey wants to summon, he has some time to do so and rest off any drain.

    You’re still downstairs, in/near the lobby. The real party is upstairs. Lots of people are waiting to take the elevator.

    This is an opportunity to connect with the Ancients in person. If you don’t want to – because you want to create the illusion of separation – you can just communicate with them via commlink.

    Once you head up the elevators, I’ll address AM’s post.

    I wasn’t intending to have Jawsey reach out to the Ancients here, so publicly. To some extent he doesn’t even really know what he’d ask of them until they’ve mingled and talked more.

    So I’m happy to leave them in reserve for the moment.

    IC is up.

    Crimson Guard (Urubia’s soldiers) vs. Crimson Crush (gangers) might be confusing, but that’s the canon for you. I guess I could just say Guard for Urubia’s followers to help minimize confusion.

    You’re in the elevator and seemingly have a chance to cast a spell without being observed. There is a camera but you’re being obscured by all the surrounding gangers. If you cast something, you’d probably want it to be low-Force to 1) avoid being noticed, and 2) have enough time to erase the astral signature before the elevator arrives. The elevator ride is about 4 combat turns, the first of which is observing the situation and getting the results of the IC post. You have about 3 combat turns left to act. If you want to communicate, that will be on the clock.

    AM’s initiative is 1d6+9 so we can fairly safely assume that she has 2 initiative passes per combat turn. That’s more than enough to cast two spells and then erase the signatures. You could even cast again, although you’re getting low on reagents. Jawsey can help scrub astral space for good measure.

    Spending two Edge leaves AM with zero, so… mind the gap.

    That gives us a 3-hit spell and a 7-hit spell to resist:

    The first spell does indeed bounce off the ork. The second one sinks in nice and deep.

    @gilga I will note that Influence is more of a post-hypnotic command. What you’ve written is fine because you could just construct it as a command: “Think that your leader and Nightmare will have you working side by side with Ancients.” But if you wanted to rework the phrasing so that it’s more of a command/order that the ganger will act on, you could.

    Wow, I never knew it was actually a command. Only used it once to seduce a guard a few years ago.

    So she can say: “Stop the secret alliance with Nightmare and the Ancients” and compel the ganger to do what he thinks is best to stop that alliance? Or must it be a very specific command?

    Influence is one of my favorite spells because it’s the most subtle. None of your ham-fisted Control Thoughts or Control Actions here.

    I don’t want to get too hung up on whether the phrasing is a command or not because – per my previous post – you can basically conjugate anything into the imperative. I’m just saying you can phrase it as a command if you wish, giving you a little more leeway.

    Now the results of the spell vary based on the nature of the command and how it relates to the target of the spell. If you tell a guard to take a bathroom break and they actually need one, then they’ll happily take one and never think twice about it. But if you tell a guard to take a bathroom break and they just returned from the bathroom, then it will trigger some doubt or confusion in their mind about where that idea came from.

    “Your leader and Nightmare will have you working side by side with Ancients” is fairly clever, but the risk is being too subtle. “Stop the secret alliance with Nightmare and the Ancients” is obviously much more direct, and so the risk is that it’s too overt. Per the spell description, they’ll follow your instructions for [Net Hits] Minutes unless confronted with the wrongness of the command. That’s less of a concern here, since you’re generally aware of each gang’s attitudes.

    In this case, the command will last 6 minutes. Now the target is obviously not going to be able to stop the secret alliance in six minutes, but they could obviously initiate some conversations or start some complaining that might domino through the rest of the evening.

    Go ahead and IC post with your final phrasing and we’ll follow the action from there.

    @Beta Good assensing test. Short version is that, pre-spell, these guys are excited to be here and party their brains out. On the physical side, they’re loaded up with various ‘ware: muscle replacement, spurs/claws/hand blades, reaction enhancers, etc. Let me know if you have a specific question.

    Also, I think we had an Edge refresh not that long ago so everyone is starting the party with full Edge. Of which AM spent all of hers already.
