    Bobby „MadCat“ Walker (Amerindian)

    Karma Spend/Total: 84/89 (5 from Starting Karma)

    Chapter 2: 10000 Nuyen payout, 8500 after taxes. 1850+150 ear marked for lifestyle share, reducing debt by 6200 to 17.000,
    End of the month increases it to 18.700 Nuyen. Rest goes to money in hand

    Interlude:
    Karma: 2 karma, enough to buy off a rank of In Debt if you can afford it
    Contact: Katsuo “Andrew” Musai, Yakuza sergeant, at Connection 4, Loyalty 1
    Knowledge Skills (general): 3 points to spend as you please, to either buy new knowledge skill(s) and/or to add to existing knowledge skills, the goal being to advance things that are often afterthoughts. Spend these the same way you would in chargen (e.g. a specialization costs 1 skill point).
    Knowledge Skill (specific): Sioux Sign Language at rank 1. This is from Native American Nations, Volume 1. It’s good for secure, non-verbal communication when wireless is unavailable or inadvisable. Granted, this was much more common in 1E-3E than it is now, but I think it’s something that Bobby might be able to mime while in some of his animal forms.

    Money on Hand 2425

    Background:
    Recruiting Interview with Specialist Robert Walker:
    Son of War Shaman Yanni “Dark Crow” Walker and Environmental Engineer Elisabeth Miller (official resident).
    Born August 12th 2051 in Cheyenne.
    Developed strong physical magical talent during highschool, was recruited into Sioux Defense Forces at age 17, recommended for special training at 18. Completed tour of duty at [Classified] and [Classified], talent for infiltration and scout duties. Recommended for special operations, recommendation rescinded due to disciplinary problems.
    Barred from further promotions, honorable discharge in 2073. Assessment by Shaman Bill Whitewater indicates severe totemic influence over personality and/or corrupted totem (Hunger/Wendigo classification).
    Self employed tourist guide, private detective and suspected mercenary work.
    Currently in debted to the Tiošpaye.

    Assessment: Ready for recruitment

    Cpt. Razak: Mr. Walker, how are you? It’s been a while since we met.
    Robert Walker: Yeah, long time no see… Could be better, could be worse. Anyone still alive from the 16th?
    CR: The 16th never dies – though no, no-one you’d know is still around. I heard you had some trouble recently? Something about a lost consignment for the extended Family?
    RW: You looking for trouble? Cause asking stuff like that is a quick way to getting digested by coyotes. I’ve got nothing to do with those assholes since Charlie took over.
    CR: Fair enough. But you are still looking for gainful employment, aren’t you? See kid, I always had a week spot for you and your abilities. A real shame that those pencil pushers couldn’t overlook that little scuffle you had with Seargent What’s-his-name.
    RW: Ha. Asshole deserved it.
    CR: Well, maybe you didn’t have to turn into a Chimpanzee, knock him out and throw your own feces at him.
    RW: Didn’t have to – wanted.
    CR: *Sigh* – Just for your information, it took me considerable effort to prevent them from just throwing you into prison and losing the key. The honorable discharge was the best I could do for you.
    RW: And my eternal gratitude it has ensured. What do you want? I’ve got a child’s birthday party to entertain and need to get into character soon.
    CR: How would you like to work for a real PI agency? In Seattle. A regular income, no troubles with the NAN authorities, interesting jobs and a new start?
    RW: Yeah – what’s the catch?
    CR: From time to time you’d be approached by someone who gives you a job you can’t refuse – still payed of course.
    RW: So black ops on forreign soil? Eh, what the hell, I’m in. At least it can’t be as boring as the shit I do right here…

    Adding on to the IC post, this is not a tactical simulation. I’m aware that there’s a certain amount of GM fiat with an opening post and I’m not trying to put you at a tactical disadvantage with your positioning. Things aren’t openly hostile (yet) but it would be fair to say they’re antagonistic. The gangers are probably ~20 meters away, so there’s still some space. It’s mostly shouting and insults at this point.

    Whether things escalate or are defused is up to you. As always in a true open world setting, all approaches are possible. Some are more possible than others.

    Nice.
    But just so you know: Super Human Psychosis makes it pretty hard for Bobby to back off or act deescalating
    Composure: 9d6t5 3
    Although in this case he might be able to do so – but I’m not sure if he/I want to…

    I’m well aware of the competing dynamics within the team. The push-and-the-pull is part of the drama I’m pursuing.

    As for Intimidation, we’ll say the “physically imposing” modifiers of both parties offset each other. They outnumber you and are brandishing weapons. Technically this is a negative modifier to the Intimidation roll (-4), which – taking hits from the right side of the roll – costs Bobby all of his hits. IC inbound.

    @gilga
    Good composure roll. AM is solid as a rock.

    Is the SMG the Ares Sigma? That’s a big gun with a 50-round drum, so that sends an equally big message.

    What’s the Walther P118 on your sheet? I’m not familiar with that. What book is that from?

    I noticed your Automatics specialization is in Machine Pistols, but you don’t seem to have any machine pistols. Is that intentional?

    Walther is a machine pistol, it comes equipped with trigger removal and electronic firing which means it is always wireless on when you want to fire (unless she physically plugs it to her deck). It is not a proper gun for a shadowrunner. It also has an advanced safety system to make sure you do not shoot yourself or your friends. It was her self defense weapon, but she got a new gun from Jhonny now that they are killing people on the job.

    I have not read the description of the Sigma when I think SMG I usually think Uzi which is the only SMG I fired. So larger than a pistol, but smaller than an assault rifle. Though to be fair, I planned AM with the ‘small arms’ rule (with SMG as the biggest small gun). Chummer just do not have that skill.

    Edit it is similar to Uzi in size (aside from the drum):
    http://adragon202.no-ip.org/Shadowrun/index.php/SR5:Weapons:Submachine_Gun#Ares_Sigma-3

    and is legally used by law enforcement.

    Cool, thanks. What book is the Walther P118 from? Is that from a German book?

    State of the Art ADL (the german book) – I just browsed Chummer to see which gun i could. I’d never start opening books and looking for guns… 😉

    Wow, Jack, it is the most hilarious use of shape change I’ve ever encountered. Your post has made my hour!

    Sometimes I shake my head a bit that they made Shapechange an LOS spell, but it does allow for some creative applications like in the current scenario.

    @Jack_Spade
    Is your goal to actually crush the gangers with pigeon-sharks, or are you just trying to create shark-bombs that detonate around them?

    Depending on how tightly we’re playing things, these may not be large sharks. Taboo Transformer makes Shapechange work against involuntary subjects, so no problem there. However, Flesh Sculptor explicitly requires a voluntary subject for it’s additional size changes. In that case these would be Body 3 sharks, so maybe angel sharks or something like that. Now we can say that Taboo Transformer overrules the Flesh Sculptor limitation, but since we’re collectively GMing I wanted to call this out.

    Also, that first spellcasting (the pigeon that resists) is a glitch. Let me think of something creative.

    @gilga
    Are we working with different texts for the Growth spell? I’m not sure what an F1 casting would do based off what I see in Forbidden Arcana, nor do I see anything that talks about growth in terms of percentages:

    The growth spell causes the target’s physical attributes to grow (and if the caster desires, the target grows larger as well). For every three net hits
    (minimum 1), the target’s Body, Agility, Reflex, and Strength temporarily increases by 1 for as long as the spell is maintained. If the caster desires the target to grow physically larger as well, the target grows half a meter for every three nets hits.

    Also, what’s the calculation for the spellcasting dice pool? You said multicast and rolled 14 total dice, but all I see are Magic 5 + Spellcasting 5. Am I overlooking something? Edge is 2 so that doesn’t get us to 14 (in case you were using Edge to Push the Limit).

    @beta
    I’ll wait for Jawsey to respond before advancing things.

    Oh sorry 😉 I remembered wrong.

    The growth spell causes the target’s physical attributes to grow (and if the caster desires, the target grows larger as well). For every three net hits (minimum 1), the target’s Body, Agility, Reflex, and Strength temporarily increases by 1 for as long as the spell is maintained. If the caster desires the target to grow physically larger as well, the target grows half a meter for every three nets hits.

    so half a meter bigger – probably not worth it.

    For calculation, She has spellcasting 5 + magic 5 + mentor 3 (she is a traditionalist shaman which means she gets a code of honor harmony with nature, limitations on summoning – and +1 extra from mentor spirit. Since the limit is 1 hit (F1) I rounded to 14 and rolled twice, the second roll is 3 hits – and 1 is kept due to limit.

    @Tecumseh

    Doesn’t really matter, since I’m neither aiming them, nor do I intend to kill anyone.
    It’s more about the message that this is cursed territory.
    But yes, I assumed that Taboo Transformer supercedes the voluntary limitation of Flesh Crafter (how else am I ever going to turn someone into a frog?)
    As for the glitch I’d imagine I just made an enemy for life with that pidgeon – or it was a carrier pidgeon for some cartell and I just derailed its delivery…
    Easiest would be to just add two points of drain…

    1) sorry, been offline for most of the weekend (more literally than usual, was visiting a friend whose internet had been taken out by a wind storm and I was out of the coverage zone of my mobile provider — it was amusing how often one of us pulled out their phone to look something up and then went ‘right, no internet’)

    2) while I have issues with the shapechange spell vs the SR magic system in general, eve I have to admit that was a hilarious use of it, Jack, and the sort of thing that softens me towards it.

    3) I’ll work on an IC this evening

    @gilga
    Great, thanks for the breakdown. Totally forgot about the mentor spirit bonus. But is AM casting after all since the effects would be minimal?

    @jack_spade
    I have an idea which I think will be interesting.

    @beta
    No need to apologize. I don’t expect posts on weekends because it’s usually the hardest time for me to be online. This weekend has been a bit of an exception for me, so I’ve been more active. For example, right now I’m posting from my phone while in the car while my son naps in the car seat. We’re not moving – we’re in the driveway at home – but I don’t want to disturb him. So, extra time to post.

    This is kind of a bizarre Con – in the sense of being implausible – and sort of a half Con / half Intimidation situation. I’ll roll Composure for the troll, which is basically a defense roll for Intimidation, but without some of the Intimidation bonuses (like physically imposing, outnumbering, etc.).:

    Charisma 3 + Willpower 4 + Guts 2: 9d6t5 2 hits

    Not the greatest roll, but certainly not as bad as Jawsey’s rolling. The troll doesn’t look thrilled to have a shark in his face, but nor does he really back down.

    WELL I wrote a long IC post, but the site decided to log me out sometime between the time when I started and when I finished. So, instead of posting it, the site tells me I need to log in. Hitting back on my browser didn’t bring it back. SO that’s annoying. I guess I get to rewrite it. Drek.

    I had thought about whether it should be intimidation or con, but concluded that the goal was to sell them on the idea that this area is weird and haunted, more than trying to frighten them away right away, so thought it was closer to Con.

    Well you could perhaps give Beta a little boost because of the watcher/ disabling growth trick? there is actually a hazy figure exiting the shark.

    Redid the IC post. I think I like this one better since I had a chance to sleep on it. It’s more open-ended than the previous one.

    They’re dropping hints to this effect, but this is a veteran crew and not easily rattled. These tactics aren’t new to them.

    Let me know if you want to roll any knowledge skills. Some of the info from the neighborhood wiki may help too. Or not, who is to say.
