Zag responded to Ex-Gladius.”Very clever. OK, Can you drop me off on a side street near there? Sewers should connect, and I should be able to pull up a cover. I can get in and out as fast as anyone, I’ll check what it up-chucked and recover that. Err, I’ll need to borrow the garbage bin from your console, or something though. And Ichante, if you haven’t had enough sewer mucking yet today I won’t complain if you want to come, up to you.“May 16, 2019 at 2:40 pm #18781
[Sunday Evening, June 5th, 2078; Street Clinic, 25th Avenue South, Tacoma Light Industrial Area, Seattle Metroplex]
Batshit and Al entered the clinic to find it, thankfully, a typical example of street docs catering to the low income and SINless bracket of society rather than one catering to the illegal implant market which have might been a bit more upset by them barging in. They came in to a waiting room where three other people sat nursing their injuries; an orc mum and her young son who looked like he’d come off worse in an altercation with the road and a drunken bum who at first glance bore a striking resemblance to Al…
A bored looking receptionist was clearly absorbed in whatever his AR feed was showing rather than tending to any patients and it took a moment or two to attract his attention…
[Sunday Evening, June 5th, 2078; Basement, 25th Avenue South, Tacoma Light Industrial Area, Seattle Metroplex]
It might have been a little disconcerting for the Mind Shard to suddenly be occupying the body of a blind and simultaneously astrally sighted form were it not used to perceiving the world that way. The ghoul made its way to a sewer crossing and then followed its nose up a companionway ladder to the clinic’s basement.
It was greeted with the sight of four metahumans and three fellow ghouls…
“Jon, wha da frag, you’re menna be watching… Jon? Frag, he’s got a spirit in ‘im”
“What? Frag! Waste ‘im”
The roar of the shotgun blast could be heard in the clinic above…

After dropping off the finger, Ulrich had just enough time to get a quick look at the people waiting for him upstairs.
Instead of enduring his mind shard to be disrupted, he dismissed it, having gained what knowledge he could from the short excursion.
<<Seven operators, three of them ghouls. Sewer entrance is right beneath the North-eastern corner of the building. They are armed with shot- and handguns. They just shot their fellow ghoul soldier>>Spoiler:May 16, 2019 at 6:07 pm #18797
Al never sat down. Holding his mangled hand out from his body he circuited the floor in irregular loops, half dragging and half leaning on his female companion. She was not a tall girl, but still stood an inch taller than he did, and though slight, her build was solid relative to his emaciated frame. For all that, the girl’s obvious youth and his apparent age made her seem smaller. He ranted continuously about how he was not drunk and needed medical attention and the Timber Wolves sucked this season and he would sue the machine press makers and beer was better warm and the orc mother was giving him a hard-on and where was his doctor?
As he staggered around, he made occasional lunges at various doors. Eventually he’d go through one, but he hadn’t decided which, yet. Because he was of two minds. Either the staff he could see were oblivious to whatever weirdness was afoot in the basement – in which case they’d be easy to blow past – or they were in on it, in which case he wanted to be treated and appear as vulnerable as possible in hopes of being their next victim.
But when sound of the shotgun blast came up from the basement, there was no more time to vacillate. The AR-watching receptionist looked up, then instantly lost himself in a different feed. The would-be patients made for the exit, some screaming and running, some jaded enough to manage a more orderly retreat. Al kept up his act, aiming to appear harmless and vulnerable for as long as it would hold. And, unnoticed to any but the keenest-eyed, he palmed a patch from a pocket, deftly slipped it under his filthy t-shirt, and applied it to his stomach. Muttering, “Gon’ find the doc myself,” Al stumbled with his young guardian through the door that seemed mostly likely to lead him downstairs, hoping no one would notice but sure they weren’t going to stop him if they did.May 16, 2019 at 6:08 pm #18798
”Sure, why not,” Ichante tells Zag. ”If Al can break his hand then I can go sewer diving. I can levitate the finger so we don’t have to touch it.”
Ichante isn’t even particularly thrilled about her mind touching a chewed-up piece of finger than had spent an hour in a ghoul’s stomach acid, but she’s made her life choices and now she has to live with them. Or die with them, but hopefully it doesn’t come to that.
She gets out of the car, waits for Zag, and then starts looking for sewer access. Ulrich comms with a potential location so she goes back to her spatial sense to try to confirm the spot. Finding it, she acts a lookout while waiting for Zag to move the heavy manhole cover.May 17, 2019 at 2:09 am #18811
Rebbeca and Tanya arrive at the clinic in time for the action. >> Ulrich, we should dispatch them, it would be bad to leave them breathing. I and Tanya are here to help.May 17, 2019 at 10:52 am #18816
<<Agreed. To minimize potential casualties and to maximise surprise, I suggest we breach through the outer wall. But maybe let Al get medical attention first.
Ichante, Zag what’s your position on that – cost benefit says that we want one of them alive for interrogation.>>
Ulrich sighed. Calling shards fast was what he had trained extensively, but it was nonetheless tiring.Spoiler:
All weariness vanished when the mind shard filled him again although his bio-monitor told him that he had overexerted himself – painfully.
Worse, his mindshard managed to channel further mana improperly, hurting themselves in the process. Still, he felt quick enough again to deal with the group.
He left the car and moved towards the building corner where he knew the room to be where the ghouls and the gunmen waited. He closed his helmet.
<<In position.>>May 17, 2019 at 12:51 pm #18832
Coming through the door, Al found an anteroom with a desk, some counters and cabinets, and several more doors. Most seemed to be examination or treatment rooms, but his instincts had been good and one was clearly marked Basement: No Admittance.
Scanning around for anyone – bad guy or straight-up clinic staff – that might try to stop him and Bronwean, he muttered into his lapel pick-up: <<Don’t need no meds, I ain’t even hurt. An’ breachin’ the wall ain’t no good – they’s inna basement – don’t warn ’em. We’s headed down now.>>May 17, 2019 at 1:33 pm #18838
Bronwean tracked the rooms, doors and occupants. As Al staggered around the room she played the adult daughter. Berating him for drinking the rent – again, apologising to everyone in turn. It became impossible as Al caused more and more chaos. Just as soon as she had the room figured it fundamentally changed
Then the gunshot rang out she fought her instinct to pull out her pistol and drop into a ready stance. With the room in pandemonium she fought to keep her disguise up and her instinct down while all the time tracking the room for target. So how her nose began to bleed.
Al headed for a door saying something about a doctor and palming a patch. He shouldered through a door half leaning half dragging her with him.
The room was bright white no floor no ceiling. Stood a middle aged man in a sharp suit. Africa but with assive main of blond hair. His paws straightened his cuffs.
“hello batshit, I’m sorry my visit is long overdue. I have to say just proud I am of you. The way you helped those girls was Exactly what we embody. I’m sorry it hurt so much. And amazed you have kept your calm on this job. I’m sure I would have lost my temper by now. Anyway must not keep you just to say you need to push the edges more. You are more capable than you think you are right now. Now I won’t keep you, think you better get ready. Your friend is going to start something I believe ”
Bronwean heard Al subvocalise his intention and it dragged her back to the now
” gimme a sec” as she pulled out her manhunter and screwed the silencer on muttering to herself about how lion never stuck around to answer questions.
“Ok, let’s boogie”

<<I’m breaching the wall now, get ready to go to the cellar room and draw their attention. I’ll come down from above.>>
Feeling the crystal on his chest, Ulrich concentrated. With a slight *phoom* a blade of pure white energy appeared in his right hand.
A flick of his wrist was all he needed to cut through the outer wall of the clinic and into a store room. He had cut at an angle so, the triangular section just slit out and crashed on the floor.
The floor was tougher, being made from poured concrete.
<<Tell me when you are ready.>>May 17, 2019 at 4:38 pm #18849
Rebbeca slides into the hole left by Ulrich and murmurs “Slick!” clearly impressed. She wears street clothes, armored jacket, and a balsitic mask with red glowing eyes. The mask is wasted ofcourse on the blind Ghouls, but she does not want to show her face. Rebbeca closes the distance to the ghouls with superhuman speed, and then engages in some brutal and satisfying violence.May 17, 2019 at 5:41 pm #18854
Al gave Batshit her sec. And in that time, a flick of his wrist sent the mixed-rigidity smart materials in his hand back into their functional, default setting. There was still a little bruising from the hammer on the thin layer of natural flesh, but his platelets were already taking care of that. Better, he could feel the beneficence of the voodoo gods working down his wrists though to the end of each digit, and to that he added a pair of brass knuckles from his pocket.
“Boogie it is, ace. Seven guns – let ol’ Al draw they fire, you snipe ’em from the periphery.”
And they burst through the door. “The fuck…? This ain’t the john…” He’d hoped to get closer, but at least one of the bad guys was jumpy.
“SHOOT ‘EM,” the guy yelled, and Al yelled <<NOW Ex-G, baby>> and leapt forward into the midst of them.
And then it was bullets, claws, feet and fists – and people dropping out of the ceiling.May 17, 2019 at 10:37 pm #18862
“shitshitshit, they are moving already — Ichante, I’m going to rush to the clinic entrance to try and stop anyone from escaping, make it there as you can.”
With that Zag took off runnning, worrying not much about stealth and a whole lot about speed. Letting anyone escape seemed like a bad plan, but something had triggered the others to make a move early. He already had his machine pistol out, but the range on it wouldn’t stop anyone from far. He needed to make his way to the entrance from the sewer to the clinic and be ready to intercept anyone coming out that way.May 18, 2019 at 4:26 am #18867
As Rebbeca entered she operated with brutal efficiency and dispatched the first ghoul she saw. She’ll need to remember to take one alive for questioning, but there are still ghouls to spare. Rebbeca uses her entire momentum to dash at the ghoul with a vicious kick to the heart. The kick went through, knocking the ghoul over several meters from the force of the blow into a storage cabinet on the wall, and instantly killing him. Rebbeca did not make a sound, her expression frozen and her breathing completely regulated. She was completely focused on combat and almost entranced. In her hyperawareness state, she saw in slow motion how the two ghouls revert to instinct and begin to flee. One to the hospital, and the other to the clinic. They were humans too, armed with guns, and since she has no preference between the living and the undead. Rebbeca positions run toward one of the humans to break whatever formation they may have and make sure that they need to take care as to not hit each other with their useless guns.

Two cuts. It needed two cuts to make a 1m² large tile fall straight down into the basement. Wires touched and the power cut out causing a moment of darkness before the emergency lights turned on, shading everything in a red hue.
Down below pure chaos reigned. Becky jumped in with glee like she was in an old kung fu trid.
Ulrich hopped down with a practiced parachuter’s roll at the end, coming up with his power blade, casually cutting up one of the people holding a shotgun – including the shotgun. The edged glowed a dull red that fit in perfectly with current ambience.
Two were currently in the process of fleeing through the sewer access, but he couldn’t spare more than three words before he had to evade a cloud of flechette: <<Two in sewer>>May 18, 2019 at 12:14 pm #18885
Batshit guessed Al intentions and as soon as she felt the pressure lift from her shoulder she stepped wide to get a good shot she pulled two snap shot at the other two ghouls, cliping their hips and putting them down before they could move to harass Al. The three goons where put of by the silencer unable to decern if Batshit was a threat or how to get to Al with out shooting each other. The hesitation was going to cost them.May 18, 2019 at 12:19 pm #18886

Tanya follows Ex-Gladius and Rebecca down into the basement through the rather impressive hole cut by the man. She makes a good gymnastics roll, coming to her feet and reacting immediately to Ex-Gladius’ message. >>Going into the sewer in pursuit of the ghouls.<<
She lets her whip uncoil as she disappears into the sewer, letting her sensors and enhanced vision guide her as she runs after the ghouls. The prey knows the sewers well, but Tanya’s sensors and the HUD display on her helmet gives her as much information as they have and she closes quickly.

Sunday Evening, June 5th, 2078; Sewer Beneath Street Clinic, 25th Avenue South, Tacoma Light Industrial Area, Seattle Metroplex
Tanya speeds through the sewer following the two ghouls that had made it into the stinking stream of rotting flesh and human waste. >>Are we sure that we need one of these ghouls to survive? They may not give me an option for that.<<
The ghouls turn to make a stand and Tanya charges at them, her whip flicking forward to the one in front. The monofilament wraps around the torso of the ghoul and a tug from Tanya cuts the creature in two, its upper torso separated from its waist and legs.

Al reckless flying haymaker had leveled the ghoul with the doctor, brass knuckles shattering a cheekbone. He landed in a squat, ready to receive the two other ghouls’ attacks – he’d landed directly in between them and their vicious nails were already reaching for him from either side…but they both staggered back against the nearest wall, one within a split second of the other. The medical-looking guy dropped to his knees and covered his head. Good for him, because all three of the guys with guns, not sure what had put the ghouls down, unloaded everything they had at Al with buckshot and autofire, filling the small space with lead at close to point blank range. The cumulative sound barrage was deafening in the small space.
Even before their fingers could release pressure on their triggers, however, they realized they were shooting at a blank wall. “Up here, assholes,” a voice had rasped into their ringing ears from the exposed piping overhead. They were raising their weapons when something sliced through the very section of ceiling that Al was hanging on to, dropping him and a chunk of concrete to the floor even as more bullets had flown. Al’s eyes said “What the hell!?” but his lips had no time to move as he barely tossed himself aside from the deadly debris, though no one noticed or cared. Becky had followed the piece of ceiling down, selecting a target even before her feet found new purchase. Seeing the three felled ghouls regaining their feet, and one of them going for a hostage again, she literally flew towards the infected cannibal and crushed both sternum and heart with a thunderous kick.
In the shadows, Batshit almost took a few more shots, but she was smarter than that, waiting until the perfect strategic moment arrived, the moment where something slipped by everyone else.
Ulrich and Tanya were right behind Becky. With the three men still firing wildly around the room, Ulrich used whatever had destroyed the ceiling to destroy the shotgun wielder, while Tanya saw the two ghouls scrambling down a hole in the floor and ignored the battle around her to give chase. Another one of the shooters unloaded on Ulrich, while the last one drew a deadly bead on Becky’s back.
That was when Batshit opened up on the guy, while from his position on the floor Al dove for the legs of the one shooting at Ulrich – a play calculated to keep both men alive. The guy spotted Al creeping up on all fours behind him, though, and easily sidestepped Al’s lunging grab.May 18, 2019 at 7:35 pm #18933
Rebbeca recoils, from the attack – her six sense indicating the danger of a shooter to her back. She quickly turns, and without thinking much tosses herself toward the legs of the man, using her entire body weight to tip him over to the floor in a loud knack sound. Before the man hits the floor, Rebbeca is already holding him, and in a brief second, she manages to grapple him in a vicious hold, preventing the man from moving. She wants someone to survive and answer questions and is not certain if anyone has taken one alive yet.
