Did Johnny already pay out the investigative piece, or is he paying us all at once at the end? The reason I ask is because Mato would consider some new clothes for the event, as he doesn’t think either his suit or his armor jacket will fit in with the crowd. Who knows, maybe the anarchists all wear armor jackets, but he’s thinking that something less bulky will make him look less like a security goon.

I think the general plan is:

    1) AM and Mato go in person under the cover of the event, with AM being the face and Mato being the muscle
    2) Bobby infiltrates as a pigeon/rat/etc.
    3) Jawsey and/or Jawsey spirit on astral overwatch

Maybe we can start with a spirit from Jawsey and he can be our emergency “oh drek” button if the dice are cold and we’re getting our hoops handed to us.

Not that it is anything as impressive as a spirit (but Jawsey don’t summon the big ones anyhow. AM has a buffalo shaped F6 watcher that lives in a canteen (Govi). So we do have astral overwatch capabilities though nothing as impressive as Jawsey himself.

I didn’t want to put too much pressure on the watcher. If it’s Force 6 then it’s attributes are 4 and its skills are 3. Rolling 7 dice in astral combat makes it more of a distraction than a robust combatant. If we go up against an F3 spirit, then sure, the watcher is competitive, but anything larger will make short work of the watcher.

Maybe she’s a psionic, not that Mato has the knowledge skills to suggest as much. (Having him suggest voodoo was a stretch as it was.) Her astral-ego Ph.D thesis seems like something a psionic would write, and, per Shadow Spells, their preferred spells include “Control Mind” [sic, this spell doesn’t exist] and Control Emotions. She could have a whole horde of mind shards (i.e. bound spirits) waiting to play. Beta’s suggested help from Jawsey twice now, which probably means that we’re in for some astral threats.

First of all, sorry for the silence — hit the combination of unexpectedly complicated quarter end wrap up at work and preparing to be on vacation this week, so my week has been quite slammed. I think tonight should be better and will try to clear out the negotiation side of things.

The experience of being mind controlled or possessed by a spirit is not described in much detail in the source material, Reynolds presumably doesn’t have much to compare it too, much of it he experienced while drugged, and when he was explaining it he was still suffering from injuries and the drug aftereffects. In other words I wouldn’t read too much detail into either his or my words about his experience — I was certainly not trying to clearly point to a specific mechanism (in F-t-F there would have been a more natural flow of questions and I think it would have been clearer that all he knows is that he wasn’t in control). I’m not saying that your conclusions are wrong, just that your premise that his words were _thus_ and therefore it must mean _so_ is dodgy.

I’ve mostly offered up Jawsey as narrator ‘oh-shit’ insurance. Playing around with things that could make players lose control of characters is always dangerous, so I want some plausible back-up plan. But I think your three characters should likely be able to handle the situation without much involvement from Jawsey. He’ll send along a force four spirit of Man to try to keep astral things off of you all and to cry for help if it can’t.

I think we’re ready to advance to The Hostel.

If we get there and our look is just impossibly wrong, maybe AM can use Makeover to help smooth things over.

If you have any further prep to do before going in, feel free to include it in flashbacks.

Does Bobby have a preference for where he will try to get in?

What’s the dress code inside? Is wearing an armored jacket a no-no (something that Kevin can get away with but not the guests) or is that kosher?

    What metatype is Kevin?

Speaking of things we might want to establish via flashback: a communication plan (or any sort of plan) between Bobby and AM/Mato.

AM and Mato can scan the ground floor, Bobby does the upper floors, and maybe AM can help (via cameras?) for the upper floors. If Bobby spots the target, he can come crawl on us. If Bobby doesn’t spot the target, maybe he can come crawl on us anyway. Mato can excuse himself to the rest room, Bobby can transform, Mato hands over Bobby’s clothes (if Bobby isn’t going to retransform right away), and then we can compare notes about the target location and next steps.

It’s been a week so it’s time to check in on everyone’s health and well-being. I hope everyone is okay!

Sorry for the lack of posts on my side. The staycation ended up being busier than expected, and when I came back to post I hit some issues that took me a bit of pondering to figure out. Finally figured it out today.

@Jack_Spade Bobby finds a way in. As a cockroach his numerous eye lenses give him a 360 degree view … of light and dark in a very course sort of way (mostly in the green spectrum, no sensitivity to red). He’s also quite sensitive to smell and air currents. Other small forms also generally have limited range of focused vision (a mouse will pick up motion at light/dark and rough shapes at a range, but only has much acuity to around half a meter). Please give me a stealth roll (people will notice cockroaches at times ….) and a perception roll (just use your raw pool, I’ll put the difficulty into thresholds)

Do not forget that I still can use Astral Perception too, which should make it easier to recognize my environment normally, even if dead matter is just al in grey:

    Perception: 12d6t5 4
    Astral Perception: 10d6t5 5
    Stealth: 10d6t5 3

Sorry, it has been a week for technology debugging instead of writing (and it looks like we are buying at least one new phone, possibly a second, and should get a new laptop soon … yeesh). Finally framed you all inside the building, and gave you some distractions*. Feel free to ignore those or follow up on them as you feel like it.

    * note that distractions can also get turned into useful plot elements sometimes, depending on what you do with them. I just used ‘distractions’ to mean that they are not your primary objective.

Alright, this is the next game I am trying to pick up. (Will go back to normal at september).
Can you give me a brief of where we are what did I miss?
    (Where is AM?)

AM is in the ‘common room’ of The Hostel. There are around 20 people there currently, some sort of home-brewed drones running along tracks up near the cieling (the tracks could pass for an art installation were it not for the little taser drones skittering around). And someone is trying to talk to AM. See my post of August 23rd for full details (it is only about five posts up in the IC thread. Starts with Bobby but then gets to AM and Mato)

Yes, I caught up, I was afraid you moved on by a lot more. I entered AM and that guy into a casual chat assuming that the heavy lifting of finding our victim is on Bobby for the time being.

    @Gilga
Not sure if it’s this way for everyone else, but the spoiler tag in your IC post appears empty.

I’ll just fill it up here then:

She’ll assense anyone that interest her (the two guys in the beginning, the guy that approached her, and people in general. Let’s simplify it by buying 2 hits for each try.

So … background count in a lodge. By RAW, mana in a lodge is aligned to its tradition, (without giving a limit bonus for those aligned). Creating a BCG for everyone not-aligned equal to the lodge rating.

Any compelling reason to not play it that way? (basically, is there a common house rule that makes it different, that people might be expecting would be in play?).

@Jack_Spade: I couldn’t find the force/successes on Bobby’s Shapechange spell (and for most of the scouting I didn’t really care much), but if there is a BCG, it begins to matter — does he manage to sustain the spell, and how much extra attribute points does he have? Am I doing terrible with my perception skill, or did we miss doing that?

ETA: and I totally _should_ have taken BCG into account from the moment he entered the lodge, and considered it on asensing. My error. I’m not planning on suddenly dumping him back in human form, having let him come this far, but should probably consider some issues to come with being in someone else’s lodge.

Actually, as an adept, does Bobby even have a tradition? I’d assumed Sioux, but ???
