Mato’s composure vs. his level of boredom:
orokos.com/roll/781039 Charisma 3 + Willpower 6: 9d6t5 3 hitsJanuary 16, 2020 at 5:39 pm #23233
Good enough to stay in position 😉January 17, 2020 at 6:40 pm #23243
The Perceiving Magic sidebar suggests Intuition + Perception to notice magic, although the context is more around spellcasting. I’ll roll it anyway:
orokos.com/roll/781227 Intuition 6 + Perception 5: 11d6t5 4 hits
That serves as a base Perception roll. Adding vision mods, in case it’s something that can be seen in the physical world:
orokos.com/roll/781230 Specialization 2 + Vision Enhancement 3: 5d6t5 1 extra hit, for 5 hits totalJanuary 17, 2020 at 8:01 pm #23247
Totally off-topic, but if anyone else has been waiting, “Cutting Black” just hit drivethrurpg.January 17, 2020 at 9:00 pm #23249
Ah, interesting. Today on the forums there was a post that said Cutting Black would be available “very soon”. It seems that was well-informed.
I also got an e-mail from Catalyst today saying that the 6E PDF has been updated. (People who go it via DriveThruRPG got the same e-mail.) I ran downloaded it and ran it through a comparison tool (vs. the original PDF) and it came up with more than 1,000 differences. However, sorting through them one-by-one was time-consuming so I stopped and figured someone else would post the results. I’m quite curious what was changed.January 18, 2020 at 5:48 pm #23252January 18, 2020 at 7:06 pm #23253
Didn’t expect to, but I’ll go through the motions to make sure. Thanks for confirming.January 20, 2020 at 1:29 pm #23261
Well I wrote a long IC reply to Beta but when I posted it RPG Playroom ate it and said, “You need to be logged in to post.” And clicking back in my browser didn’t bring me back to the posting window. So… it’s lost and I have to do it again. I’m about to walk out the door but I’ll try to do it later this afternoon.January 20, 2020 at 2:18 pm #23262
So annoying when that happens. Jack I appriciate the dark atmosphere you created here.January 20, 2020 at 3:33 pm #23263
I feel for you, Tecumseh — Sometimes I remember to copy my posts before hitting submit, just as a back-up … but almost never do I remember to do that when my log-in has expired. I certainly lose the occasional post.
And OOC: As player I have no solid hypothesis about what we are dealing with, so I’ll be data gathering along with Jawsey.January 20, 2020 at 6:15 pm #23264
The problem is that I think I’m logged in, because it gives me the window to type in, but then when I click “Submit” it’s like “nuh uh! Log in!”
Okay, working on v2.0 now, or v1.1, not sure how different they’ll end up.January 21, 2020 at 8:44 am #23271
I use Grammerly/google drive for long posts because I hate losing them. (and because I need a lot of work to write a long coherent post.January 21, 2020 at 1:45 pm #23274
I plagiarized part of a sidebar in Vice (p. 30) for my IC post.
Not that anyone asked, but Vice is one of my very favorite books in terms of fluff/setting. I read it twice cover-to-cover, although I grant that might be a function of what sort of games I gravitate toward (i.e. games with an emphasis on the streets, gangs, organized crime, etc.).January 21, 2020 at 2:17 pm #23275
Thanks for the recommendation on Vice — I’m always looking for older books that still are good reads (for the next drivethrurpg sale)
FWIW, I’ve had Jawsey start picking up Navigation (currently skill 2, pool 7), because of these astral jaunts. I wish I’d thought in character creation to buy it at 1 with a specialization ‘astral’ but oh well. He has some ability to figure his way around, but a moving, discrete, car is tough.January 21, 2020 at 3:29 pm #23276
I actually think that Seattle wouldn’t be too difficult to navigate from the astral. There are so many natural elements – Puget Sound, lakes, rivers, streams, etc. – bordering and crisscrossing the metroplex that it seems like it would be easy to find your way around. I’d be much more worried about trying to navigate a megalopolis like Las Vegas or Atlanta or Houston, where it’s basically a concrete jungle a.k.a. one big astral smear.January 21, 2020 at 4:00 pm #23278
I bet that AM can signal the right car by placing an astral buffalo named Tatanka on top of it. — and Jawsey gets 4 more dice for navigation by improved intuiton.January 22, 2020 at 1:00 pm #23295
Jack any intel from the clairvoyance spell (should allow thetrachromatic vision for radius of 40m) is the redhead in there?January 22, 2020 at 2:50 pm #23296
Nope, there is a man in his 50ies and a woman of similar age in the flat above. Both black haired and the man is definitely the wrong body type (a bit on the heavy side)January 22, 2020 at 3:41 pm #23297
Mato’s not there to say it ICly, but I think Jawsey and AM (both Logic 5) might both think of it:
We’re not there looking for the redhead directly. We’re there to daisy-chain our way toward him, hopefully by finding some security footage of him (or an associate) stealing and/or returning the van. Another lead to follow.
We should also astrally scout the van. I doubt there’d be anything left after all this time, but don’t know until we check. It might be interesting to do forensics on the van but we probably don’t have the time for that. AM can at least use her remote vision to peek around inside of it, not that I expect that to reveal much.January 23, 2020 at 5:45 pm #23303
Just to mention that I’m going to take a shot at running an episode in Aria’s timeline. Post about the game is up in the “FA OoC 2” thread in the Song of Patterns room. No pressure on anyone to join, but you are all welcome. (not sure where the actual game thread will happen yet).
