Feel free to all team up over the weekend while I’m holidaying… just don’t make any assault on the Obsidian pyramid without me 😁
The foes have a large number of blood mages and blood adepts so should be a challenge for you without your own magic, but don’t worry about dice, we might do rolls for the final encounter but no need to bog this bit down yet!April 10, 2019 at 10:51 am #17574
I did a bit of math and I think that, with some preparation, Sian might still be able to get some spells off. Since the BGC is aspected, she can use cleansing to help. She would have a pool of 23d6 against a pool of 12d6. Her limit fir hits is 9. If she is lucky, the net hits scored might be enough to get some spells off. Of course, she then has to worry about drain from the Cleanse, as well as drain from the spell she wants to cast, and it is quite likely that her focuses will be next to useless, which means she might need to risk a greater spell force to try to get an effect, wich also means more potential drain. Sometimes I wonder why I went the mage route.April 10, 2019 at 11:46 am #17578
So what’s the BCG? Do I remember seeing something like 12?
Got some homework to do – even if Al doesn’t know anything that’s happened in Jungle Drums, I still need to get onto OP and check out the basics on any PCs I meet, just to at least know their physical appearances.April 10, 2019 at 1:12 pm #17580
Yes, Aria said the BGC is 12 right here and will probably get worse. Soon, even Sian will not be able cast anything.
Milo is a very large Troll. He is currently armed with a Vigorous assault cannon. Al met him Cambodia.
Rhea Kynn is striking Elven woman. She is well cybered and currently armed with an Enfield AS-7 combat shotgun, using a drum ammunition. She also has a Ruger Super Warhawk at her hip and a a Predator V in a shoulder holster. Al met her in Cambodia, as well. She was the woman that arrived to take the orphan girl away to London.
You can read about Zen and Caroline on the OP character list.
The soldiers that are still with Alyce are a mix of Vory and EVO. Most are cybered in some way, and all are well trained and experienced, although, to be honest, this is pretty much a new experience for all of them. They are loyal to Rhea, and by extension, to Alyce. They are practiced in fire discipline and not prone to panic, although this fight is stretching that a bit.
I think that is the main list, but Is there anyone else you need to know about?April 10, 2019 at 1:36 pm #17584
Sweet – indeed I was thinking MIlo might be easy to spot or even hear his weapon.
Was considering posting Al spotting him and therefore figuring out which faction was Alyce’s.
But no time to seriously post tonight, so we’ll see where we are tomorrow.
Thanks for the run down – that’s great – totally forgot ever meeting the Kynn character.April 10, 2019 at 1:52 pm #17592
LOL Rhea might take offense that you have forgotten her, but it has been a number of years since you met her and you were not particularly interested in her then. She and Alyce call themselves sisters, although there is no real blood relation. They, and one other Elven girl, were brought up in the EVO compound in Vladivostok. All three became BFFs there. They still stay in touch, even though their lives have taken different paths.April 12, 2019 at 6:00 pm #17683
Okey smokey – so if the BCG is 12 here, then I need to declare which Adept Powers are turned off.
Indomitable Will 4
Iron Will 5

Spell Resistance 5April 15, 2019 at 7:15 am #17788
I can push this on a bit, but I wanted to see if Shrike had a response to Alyce;s comment.April 17, 2019 at 8:07 am #17897
Minor continuity thing (and I’m not suggesting Mercy needs to do an edit, just pointing things out), Dream didn’t commandeer anyone and make off on his own, he was split from the group in the confusion of combat (as were several other small groups), my fault for not making it clear in the IC…April 17, 2019 at 2:36 pm #17912
LOL Alyce thinks he took three of her soldiers and left. He is part of the Choir, after all.April 18, 2019 at 7:56 pm #17980
Just had a thought in the shower – editing my last to make sure we don’t blow up any of Alyce’s people.April 19, 2019 at 2:30 am #17989
Where is the mirror?April 19, 2019 at 7:19 am #17995
Dream has the mirror, wherever he is.April 27, 2019 at 4:27 pm #18207
In order for Sian to levitate the mirror she’d need a colossal spell force to overcome the background count and the combined mana/physical barrier that the dome of blood represents…April 27, 2019 at 4:28 pm #18208
Bc is 14 in here btw, nothing like an active blood ritual to ruin the manasphereApril 27, 2019 at 6:06 pm #18214
Sian is not trying to levitate the mirror, but herself and Shrike down to the ceremony.
With nine net hits, she cleansed all but five of the BGC here. Cool. That will let her do some spells and her foci are still active.April 29, 2019 at 5:55 pm #18260
Yikes – okay – here’s the nasty scream test
Getting screamed at: 16d6t5 8
Are doing initiative and stuff at this point?
In case we are: Initiative: 16+4d6 37
Okay, so you said in the IC I’ve got a brief window with the blood spirits’ backs to me.
I’ll be Charging down the stairs, from behind I have Superior position, and I’ll drop my Initiative from 37 to 32 for Full Offense (complex). Also one Free to Call Shot Vitals and one to Center, which will take care of my remaining BCG penalty and the Called Shot.
Then Push the Limit with Killing Hands.
Attack blood spirit: 27d6h5 9
So Killing Hands bypasses Immunity to Normal Weapons, damage is 9P plus net hits.
Used this Spirit Hunter trick before – If it takes even one box of damage, it loses all powers (incl. both Astral Form and Materialization) for two Combat Turns.April 30, 2019 at 4:48 am #18271
@adamu: slightly hazy on what this does then… they get sent back to a meta plane for 2 turns as they can’t exist even in the astral? Or is it slightly less dramatic than that??April 30, 2019 at 6:13 am #18272
I personally doubt this is what the devs had in mind with the Spirit Hunter power, but the RAW is crystal clear – if they take any damage from my Killing Hands attack, they lose all powers for two combat turns.
Since those powers include Materialization and Astral Form, yes, it would follow that the only place they can exist is their metaplane.
This is also how we played it back at the Boston pyramid (and of course is the main reason I coughed up the high cost of the power).
As I pointed out then, it is pretty unclear if, once back in the metaplane, they would grab the opportunity to escape and thus have to be re-summoned, or if they would dutifully make their way back to our plane. Even in the latter case, two combat turns plus the actions to rematerialize is precious time to us on the ground!
(Note that you’re lucky with the blood spirits – most spirits also list Sapience as a power, the loss of which would really screw them up – but that doesn’t seem to be listed in the blood spirit entry).
NOTE ALSO – I just re-computed my dice pool and I gave myself one too many dice, so I have only 8 hits…hopefully that won’t be the difference!!!April 30, 2019 at 6:29 am #18273
They are obviously not sapient 😝
Ok, Uber spirit just went poof… the benefit of catching it surprised… it’s buddy won’t be! 😈
