Purely from a typographical standpoint, having a character named Al is increasingly like having a character named dragon or megacorp.June 28, 2019 at 11:53 am #20170
It does make it confusing! I’ve changed ‘AI’ to ‘Artificial Intelligence’ a few times when typing posts, but I don’t always remember. Maybe I should try ‘Ai’ so that the capital I to lower case l confusion isn’t there? But then it sounds like some sort of Anime character?June 28, 2019 at 12:16 pm #20171
Ha ha – no worries.
I just think it’s amusing.
No need to change anything – I am pretty sure I can work out which is which from context.June 28, 2019 at 8:50 pm #20193
So here’s if I need dice for looking at the room.
And even holding the guy down, everyone else has eyes too…..

Well, probably should wait for Beta to post, as he has not yet had a chance to share with us the Panama City stuff.
But the distance from where we are to Panama is pretty much spot on.
Hope they’ve got another plane for us to jack!July 1, 2019 at 4:39 pm #20230
I thought you’d rather take the Snakehandler – getting into space is not a trivial matter 😉July 1, 2019 at 4:47 pm #20232
Would indeed rather take the Snakehandler. But that’s at least a day’s journey back to where it is – or any coastline where we could meet it. Hijacking a plane here would put us in hot pursuit.
But ???? the Snakehandler is not exactly going to space anytime soon anyway…..????
Either way – I guess we are just a few seconds in game-world-time away from (1) hearing what Beta knows and (2) finding out if there even is anything here that can fly and that we can steal….July 1, 2019 at 5:42 pm #20238
I could have formulated that better: You aren’t that much under time pressure – sending someone into space is not trivial and takes a lot of preparation.July 1, 2019 at 7:35 pm #20242
Ahh- sorry – I see what you were saying now!July 2, 2019 at 10:47 pm #20282
Sorry, long weekend here that was a lot of fun but didn’t involve much computer time–I should have warned you all I’d likely be away on Monday. Will go read the IC and reply.July 4, 2019 at 4:11 pm #20331
Jack, how far are we from the car?
How far are the drones from us?July 4, 2019 at 4:41 pm #20332
The drones are about 40m away from you, the car is on the other side of the crater wall, about 100m out. Ground is slippery, so no running.July 4, 2019 at 7:22 pm #20338
Well, if we are 40m ahead, and since we are near the top of the ridge, my first thought is to set a quick, big demolition charge, go over the top of the ridge, and then detonate so as to send a landslide/mudslide down onto the drones. Hopefully that would slow them enough for us to make a getaway, especially if the Gaz comes and meets us part way up the other side of the slope.
(Weird world of multiple games at once – I’ve committed my precious 5kg of Ares Firegel to another run, so for this run I’ll assume I don’t have that and have swapped in 5kg of R12 from my main stash).
Are we on initiative?
Complex action is prep charge – nothing fancy needed – just stick the business end of a high-end pull-detonator into 5kg of R12 plastique, using my body to screen my action from the drones. Plus keep climbing.
Next action, fake stumbling and falling – shove block of plastique in the mud, get up and keep going (stringing pull-cord behind me).
Once we are over the top of the ridge, screened by a wall of natural rock, pull cord.
Yeah, that sounds good. Let’s try that.July 4, 2019 at 7:33 pm #20340
There it is – only posted myself doing, not succeeding – and didn’t post myself over the top – wasn’t sure how far it was or if we were doing initiative or if they will try to get a shot off before we get cover.
My next action will probably be to tell the Gaz to start coming towards us – it’s got a Pilot 5 now! Might not make it far, but any distance it saves us could be helpful.July 5, 2019 at 4:27 am #20353
Becky will do:
1. Complex action fire/reload arrow – on the smaller drones.
Arrow: 19d6t5 7
Damage is 12S -8AP (electricity).
1. Free action – activate her pulse armor.
Kit will data spike two of the smaller drones with miniguns.
Dataspike: 12d6t5 3
damage is 6 Matrix + net hits.
Initative for Kit:
Initiative: 11+4d6 19
Initiative for Becky:
Initiative: 14+4d6 27
If I understand correctly, the pulse weave modifier provides -4 for melee attacks for someone which is facing Becky.July 5, 2019 at 4:13 pm #20369
Ini Spider drones:
ini: 2#10+4d6 26 26
ini: 14+4d6 32
Spider starts to employ suppressive fire:
Suppressive Fire: 12d6t5 4
12P AP-8 unless you hit the dirt or get 4 hits on EDG+REA
Spider defends against dataspike:
Matrix Defense: 14d6t5 8
Takes no Matrix Damage
Your deck takes 5 reflected Matrix damage

Looks like I did need initiative.
initiative: 16+4d6 30
Thanks to Becky, only need to evade the suppressive fire
Evade suppressive fire: 16d6t5 6
So as stated earlier, place the charge on the first action.
On my next pass I’ll go over the top and then detonate as soon as Becky and Lily are also clear.July 5, 2019 at 5:57 pm #20376
I’m heading out of town for a wedding and have a concert to go to on Sunday once we are back. I might get online briefly tonight or Sunday afternoon, but I suspect you won’t hear from me until sometime on Monday.
Given which, please buy hits for Preston or one of the other players can roll for him if the need comes up. He is not planning on trying to hack the drones just yet — he doesn’t expect to succeed so his first priority is defense.July 5, 2019 at 11:13 pm #20378
Jack – rules question – why does the deck take damage for a failed data spike?
Anyhow for the deck:
resist damage: 12d6t5 6
She will go full defense with agile defender to avoid the laser.
Defense + full defense: 27d6t5 11
and then hit the dirt dropping her initiative to 2.

A failed matrix attack action gives you matrix damage:
“If you fail an Attack action, your target’s security soft-
ware rejects your code, corrupting it and sending it back
where it came from. If it was normal data, then your system
could check it for errors, but in this case it’s some pretty
vicious stuff designed to avoid Firewalls. For every net hit
the target got on its defense test, you take 1 box of Matrix
damage, which you can’t resist.”
