Well, we agreed on that point – but the point on not taking the thing inside (or leaving it unguarded!!!) was also well taken.January 10, 2019 at 1:32 pm #13798
Ahh, the fog of PbP. I’m debating whether she would physically interfere with Al. She might. She also might put down Noir like a rabid dog.
For the record, Ichante thinks that Noir is evil. (The boggle is part of this. Decapitating people and carrying their heads around is another component. Necromancy is another part.) She’s also thinks that Noir is BSing her, and that anyone who can summon an F14 spirit with no drain (as she did with the ganger in the field) should not be in this position.January 10, 2019 at 2:01 pm #13799
Dude, if that’s what Ichante chooses, I will not fault you. The IC has gone no further than Al attaching leads and Becky assisting.
The points you make are all completely valid. I certainly cannot be sure you are wrong.
Al came up on the scene and found the person that took out our foes trapped and grievously hurt, but three people not helping.
Established character traits notwithstanding, Al has the Dog mentor and the No One Left Behind quality – he’s pretty much got to help barring clear evidence she’s working against us.
Yes, he’s super conscious of time, but First Aid is actually super fast in game terms – not talking about nursing her back to health, just stabilising and freeing her.
(And also so Silver Tongue can’t just come back and revenge slaughter her – though Al doesn’t know yet the guy was set free.)
Anyway, whatever your play, we’ll have fun with it!January 10, 2019 at 2:06 pm #13800
Last night I was working out how best to take out Noir, on the assumption that Ichante and Preston would be in agreement on the rabid dog theory — but things moved too quickly and the moment passed. Which led to that mixed feeling ‘voices’ bit in my last IC post.
ETA: cross posted with Al, because I was slow to actually hit the ‘Submit’ button. Yah, Al would 100% help her, and as a player I appreciate that approach. For Preston this just falls into one of the gaps between the pieces of humanity he has stitched back together, so he has no great compunction against the quick and safe route. But he isn’t so committed to that approach that he’d risk a rift with Al over it.

Well Ichante’s approach was going to be to drop a scrap cube on her head. (Lifting the one off her legs and seeing if she bled out was another option.) It was going to work great with Preston watching her back (but out-of-sight) while Al revved the car engines getting ready to go. The call for “final” questions was meant to be ominous. Ichante will be less enthusiastic about this approach if she has an audience. But she might anyway, as a service to the world.
The thought of leaving her to Silver Tongue had also crossed her mind, but she’s doubting that he’s lingering around. He wouldn’t even know that Noir’s outside (and trapped) to look for her.January 10, 2019 at 3:08 pm #13803
Are you planning on hacking at all or was your goal for that just to locate Noir?January 10, 2019 at 3:16 pm #13804
@tecumseh Preston isn’t hacking until he’s in a safer environment. Two reasons: 1) He still doesn’t trust the situation, even if everyone seems accounted for, so doesn’t want to go into VR, and 2) Both links were fairly high end, so AR hacking may not succeed. Well and 3) Time is tight and the planned drive is long.
His plan is to take the links with him and dive into hot sim while on the way, and empty out the links thoroughly then.
ETA: My thoughts for dealing with Sam was for Preston to stick his gun around a corner and target using his smart link. Wouldn’t have exposed much for magery to target, and dodging would have been hard on Sam’s end.

That’s a good approach too. Ichante would give Preston the honor.
I didn’t realize that Al follows Dog. That’s an interesting wrinkle. My longest-running PC (now NPC) is/was an adept following Dog.January 10, 2019 at 3:51 pm #13807
I love Dog as a mentor. I tried to make a follower of Dog for one of these games (who I’ll make work one of these days, really!). But in the current situation, that Al follows Dog is going to make things ‘interesting.’January 10, 2019 at 5:07 pm #13809
Well, as I’ve said, sitting here at my computer, I definitely respect everyone else’s positions.
I hope, just for the sake of conserving time, resources, and unit cohesion that this doesn’t come down to any sort of PVP. But here we all are with our different characters, and what happens is all cool.
So who are we waiting for to post next?
Jack, for Noir’s reaction to getting helped?
Ichante or Preston to see if they interfere?
Just to help speed the action along, if Al is able to complete the First Aid action (it’ll take five combat turns or 15 seconds of game world time – and just in case it matters he’ll be able to take at least two other actions beside the First Aid in each of those turns), then his next thing will be to get her out from under the cube – easiest and much quickest way is with Ichante’s help, but these scrap cubes are getting moved around some way so I’ve assumed there’s a crane with a magnet around here somewhere, which he knows how to operate.
But I won’t post (aside from maybe chit chat) any IC actions until we determine if the First Aid action goes through…..January 10, 2019 at 5:28 pm #13814
Maybe that will teach Monkey not to be so nosy? Nah, probably not.
(I tried finding it on Al’s character sheet to get the medkit rating, but the primary sheet on OP doesn’t seem to have his gear. Given Al’s many games and long history this probably makes sense!)January 10, 2019 at 5:32 pm #13817
It’s an R6.
Now that Jack has moved the action forward (whew, no fighting amongst ourselves yet), I’m writing a post. No actions that affect anything, but letting the rest of you know about the weird medical readings.
If you want to hack it you’ll have to be quick – as stated earlier, he’ll turn it off the moment he’s done (he always does that), and in any case, all of his wifi stuff is under the umbrella of his Fairlight, which is pretty tricked out with extra anti-hack measures….
But, he won’t hesitate to just send the data to Preston if asked. He wants everyone to see it – in fact, as long as I was going to tell you about it, I’ll just have him send it to everyone.January 10, 2019 at 5:36 pm #13820
Oh, I see you’re starting the hack already.
Let me copy-paste from my sheet so you know what you find when you hit the Fairlight (I don’t understand this half as well as I wish – Jack helped me put it together).
“Fairlight Caliban w/ hardwired program carrier (virtual machine) module for two program slots and a R6 Sleaze Dongle. Agent R6 running on one module slot + Smoke and Mirrors (maxed at 5) on the other.
Agent is on Full Defense and looks for foreign MARKs. If he finds them, he triggers a reboot. 17 to 23 dice to running silent (Depending on if you allow the agent’s full defense to add to the running silent defense) as well as 19 dice to defend against hackers (Again Agent + 7 Firewall).
Any device on which I activate Wireless automatically slaves to Fairlight.”January 10, 2019 at 5:37 pm #13822
So much cross posting – so my defenses are academic. No worries. Glad you got that resolved – I’ll go ahead and put up the info!January 10, 2019 at 5:39 pm #13823
eh, Preston had his AR butt handed to him by the kit, assuming it was standalone. I’ve updated the OOC and IC posts (rolls, narrating the failure). Up to you if Al notices. (As Al had indicated way back near the beginning, you can’t trust Deckers …. )January 10, 2019 at 5:45 pm #13825
Considering all that is going on already, probably simplest we assume Al never notices. Because Preston well sneaky!January 10, 2019 at 6:16 pm #13827
Okay – I’ve edited my last post to correct for Jack’s clarification.
It’s a small but very significant change.
With her stable, Al is now for leaving her here. But without clear proof she’s – whatever you think she is – he won’t go along with anyone hurting her.January 11, 2019 at 4:57 am #13847
Doh – another cross post.
No one else was online when I started typing…but stupid work made me slow.
So it’s a bit awkward now, but I’ve edited my original post to make it jive with Gilga’s.January 11, 2019 at 11:57 am #13854
If it’s helpful, Al’s truck (with extended seating) carries 5 per RAW.
But of course that may feel like pretty close quarters given some of the tensions around here.
Not a big deal – I mention in case you want a way not to split up. But Preston’s plan is also fine, of course.January 11, 2019 at 12:09 pm #13857
I ran out of time to IC, sorry 🙁 …assume Jazz has collected up her drones and is heading back to the farm as instructed. I was going to mention having Mowgli snatch up one or two choice items from the milspec supplies whilst being vague about what he nabbed so Jack can input or it can be used to justify mid-run acquisitions should we need them against whatever horror Jack is going to spring on us 🙂
