As I said, I’m not going to fire while you’re that close 😆January 21, 2019 at 1:30 pm #14854
Great – but I think you guys may be right – it’s possibly not enough to kill this thing (more likely these things), but we have to get them into bodies (goats should do) and then stick them back on golden spears with their eyes sewn open facing this Sleeper.
Good news is, the Goat just said…”…when he has risen.” So we may not be too late to stop that happening….January 21, 2019 at 1:44 pm #14855
Hehehe…January 21, 2019 at 3:30 pm #14858
Still think manipulating the Orb is the key. After all, it’s what’s held them in check all these millennia.
But I could wait to experiment with it. Heck, scorched earthing the building could slaughter lots of goat-vessels plus maybe incapacitate one long enough for some trial and error with the Orb.
Except….January 21, 2019 at 3:57 pm #14862
Too evil, perhaps we just let the world burn? They watched the sleeper for 10k years, don’t they deserve a break?January 21, 2019 at 7:59 pm #15291
So should we scatter to open the field of fire, or stay close to beat it down?
I seem to recall Al having wood pulp rounds, so getting him far enough away to switch to the appropriate gun might make senae?January 22, 2019 at 4:26 am #15299
Good question, Beta.
As Al has pointed out (a bit out of turn – I should probably forego a free action on my next IP), we might be cautious about leveling buildings until we know where Maria is – for that reason, Al will likely stick with the Hell Goat.
But mainly I’m waiting on turn order.
We now have initiative for everyone, and I am pretty sure everyone has had their first IP (Jazz maybe on delay or something – not sure how drone actions go).
I think that puts us in the second Initiative Pass for the first Combat Turn, and I think the highest initiatives are Becky at 20, followed by Al at 18, and then the Guardian spirit at 15, etc.
So basically waiting on Becky – I think.
Al does have wood pulp rounds for his rifle in his pocket (he thinks they are just for vampires, though he heard what Preston said it’s all news to me – Al has no experience with Shedim, and I’ve been resisting looking them up).
Mowgli still has Al’s shotgun, along with a clip of wood pulp slugs.January 22, 2019 at 5:15 am #15301
Becky would try to restrain him with unarmed combat.
Restrain the goat (subdue): 19d6t5 7
He had 15 defense and went full defense so what 23 defense?
full defense: 23d6t5 5
Let me know if she needs a social roll to get him to talk, she does not want to continue fighting (providing we’ll be disrupting the very spirits we need to guard the sleeper.

Okay, I use my remaining Free to message Jazz some more.
Then Complex to try and work the Orb.
(I’d also very much like to maintain some awareness of where Noir is, but if that takes an action, then too bad for me, cuz out.)
Still not sure if we want this thing dead, or alive but out of the goat, or alive and in the goat (to stick it back on a spear).
Also of two minds about what to do with the Orb.
If Ichante is busy with other actions, I’ll go the simple route and just try to get BCG-at-Orb down to zero. This will benefit us all, and it will help Al in ways besides just skipping the -2 on things. (Same 3 hits needed as before, Jack?)
If Ichante is willing to help, I’d like to get up close to the goat and try to see if I can dial it to a point where it causes the thing distress (successes needed – unknown, if even possible).
I’ll wait on the Arcana roll until I hear whether Ichante will be helping.January 22, 2019 at 9:37 am #15312
Preston isn’t acting again until we reach ‘1’ in the second pass, so I won’t say anything until after the others have gone — likely much has changed by then.January 22, 2019 at 11:58 am #15314
Today is my busy day at work, doubly-so since we were off yesterday for a US holiday, so I won’t be as active unless I’m seriously procrastinating.
I don’t want to get into too much OOC discussion which should, realistically, be happening ICly via Free Actions. That said, I’ll do it anyway.
Ichante’s instinct is not to help with the orb, for several reasons:
1) she couldn’t do it on her own before,
2) Al did it on his own before,
3) Changing the background count might remove some of the shedim’s advantages, but it probably won’t actively hurt it.
She’s probably more inclined to pursue Preston’s suggestion of “wood”, especially now that Becky has the goat restrained. (She thinks that extended physical contact is a bad idea, but that’s a separate argument.) Now if Al specifically asks for help she might consider it, but it won’t be her default course of action.
Separately, she hasn’t had a chance to really express this ICly yet, but she thinks that a lot of what the goat is saying is BS. She figures that the dead heads manipulated Noir and are probably trying to manipulate the group now too. Any information from Noir or the vampires is suspect; she’ll only be trusting what she knows from the Doctor’s writings and the dirty laundry instruction manual, both of which she has memorized (in theory) due to Eidetic Sense Memory.January 22, 2019 at 12:46 pm #15315
Tecumseh – your reasoning is totally understandable.
Happy to just go with my Plan A for this action.
And I agree with you about the Goat being a Big Fat Liar.
Trick is, the best liars mix truth in with the fibs – and we know SOMETHING nasty us happening here, or the sky wouldn’t literally be falling down.
Anyhow, here then is my Arcana roll – it required three successes to do this last time, but we’ll see what happens…
Dialing down to zero BCG-at-Orb: 9d6t5 2
Well, too afraid of what Jack still has up his sleeve to Edge that at this point.
Maybe try again on next IP.January 22, 2019 at 1:25 pm #15316January 23, 2019 at 4:46 pm #15360
There are a lot of ideas going around, but you still have to decide to go with one. The anthro drone can try to wrestle the goat, but it’s quick and quite strong…January 23, 2019 at 4:59 pm #15361
@Jack how long does paralyzing howl lasts? Can it be healed/countered somehow?January 23, 2019 at 7:22 pm #15364
Well, since we are still in Combat time…
Becky and Al have taken our action…I think the spirit is next, and then the Goat – or was the Paralyzing Touch its action (aside from magic pretty limited if it is in a subdual hold).
So then by the time we get down to Ichante and the drone, seems like Becky’s still holding the thing. So the drone can join in on the hold that Becky has, and she can pass over to it. She’s in no big hurry, since the goat has used its last action and she still has one.
So maybe if we view it that way, the drone idea is a good one – at least buy us a few actions to do something like tie it up or levitate it or impale it on a big piece of wood, plus put a hood or blanket or something over its eyes.
Anyway, Jazz made the command – that’s a decision – and it can’t really hurt to give the drone its shot – like I said, we’ve all got some actions now, and the went-on-full-D goat I think has no more….
(I’d almost suggest we’ve got a few seconds to do some of the above stuff off of combat time….)
What all stuff is in this “barn”?
Is it a bare bones, super-neat aluminum structure where some tractors are parked?
A more traditional agricultural place, with lots of wooden-fenced pens, ropes and chains hanging on walls, etc?January 23, 2019 at 11:10 pm #15365
I agree with Al, another possibility is to let Becky remote control the drone. (or load it with unarmed combat of its own).January 24, 2019 at 2:46 am #15369
Are we actually in combat time still? It seems we’re being more cinematic than that. Noir just dropped five full sentences on us, including some back-and-forth with Preston. That’s not exactly adhering to initiative passes, or action economy.
Ichante would almost certainly fail at levitating the goat. Levitation is resisted by Body + Strength, which would be 22 dice for an F8 Unbreakable. For casting, I’d be at 13ish dice due to the background count, and the sustained spell would take an additional hit from the stronger BGC away from the orb.
After reading through the IC thread, I was going to have Ichante suggest impaling the goat on something, maybe a sharpened rake. Looks like adamu had the same idea above. I’ll suggest it ICly. If Al wants to plug it with some wood pulp rounds, that might buy us a moment so it doesn’t go all fugu on Becky.January 24, 2019 at 5:28 am #15373
Yup, impaling on a big piece of wood (tool handle, piece of goat pen, etc.) is my favorite idea too.
Basically just waiting on Jack to confirm the description of the barn (that there are wooden implements in here).
Either way, sharpening a handle to a point is at least a Complex action.
Can’t hurt to have the drone assist Becky in holding the thing down.
Back up is wood pulp – for that I can just take my shotgun (already has wood pulp clip) back from Mowgli, since it’s apparently in here and needs its hands free anyway.January 24, 2019 at 5:29 am #15374
Your math is a bit off: it still has to follow the possession rules. So half Force to goat attributes. For body and strength this is a combined pool of 16.
As for wooden implements: there are various tools with sturdy hickory shafts around, including a handy pitchforks (whose stats can be found in the new No Future Supplement)
