Jawsey ghosted alongside the car in the astral for a bit, to make sure more spirits were not about to show up, but after a couple of minutes he returned to his body, and reported his observations to the others, finishing up with “ … so that likely means that either the guy we took the card from or someone he has in his pocket is a summoner, and had set spirits up as sentries against an attack at the Taco Temple. Makes me think that the musician might know something, but we can decide later if we want to follow that lead up or not. For now, I’ll place the call to the buyer.”
Pulling out the burner link again, Jawsey sent a new message <<Almost there with your delivery. Is there something specific I need to do to get buzzed up?>>February 7, 2019 at 5:00 pm #15739
The text message is quick >> Just be careful honey as that Pizza is really hot.February 8, 2019 at 3:13 pm #15753
”Well that didn’t answer the question, did it?” Mato asks rhetorically.
”Well, let’s be generous. We already know the card is hot, hence the gangers, but the buyer doesn’t know that gonks have been coming at us. Maybe they’re trying to give us a friendly warning about what we already know. Or maybe there’s more drek waiting for us.
“Well, only way to find out…”
Mato pilots the car toward the hotel.February 9, 2019 at 1:23 am #15756
The new Hilton is an impressive 20 story building, built with the slogan of “Metahumans welcome”, and was among the first pioneers to offer five-star troll-rooms. As such, the team does not draw much attention by themselves as they enter the hotel. Security is tight, and the guards seem alert. A large neon sign declares that the hotel is a weapon free zone. As Mato approaches a roughly humanoid drone approaches the car and says in a somewhat artificially excited voice “Welcome to the new Hilton, please state your business?”February 9, 2019 at 6:55 am #15759
“We’ve got a business meeting with the occupants of 808. They are waiting, so hurry up.”
Bobby chimed in from the back seat, currently in the progress of removing the track suite and the Birkenstocks again that he just had donned a few minutes before.February 10, 2019 at 1:26 pm #15790
The drone says “Please proceed to reception. No weapons allowed, have a pleasant visit” , and then moves away toward the next car that enters.February 12, 2019 at 12:38 am #15826
”No weapons?” Mato scoffs, trying to stuff his Ingram Smartgun into the glove compartment.
”Their clientele seem like the types who would want to defend themselves,” he continues, emptying throwing knives out of the pockets of his suit jacket. ”Or to have armed bodyguards.
”I mean, really, what’s the definition of weapon? What about a taser? A sap cap?” Several grenades appear out of the smuggling compartments in his legs. He tries to stuff them underneath the driver’s seat, where they roll around menacingly.
”I feel practically naked,” he sniffs, pulling the car around to the front entrance before getting out and giving it directions to go park itself nearby. He watched Bobby fly off and then studies the area like a bodyguard, looking for threats.February 12, 2019 at 4:58 pm #15850
Bobby had taken to the skies, counting levels until he reached the eight. From there it was a bit difficult to find number eight. depening on from which side he counted he had four options, but on general principles took the one that had the door to the balcony a bit open for fresh air. Another transformation let him in in the form of a small gecko.February 12, 2019 at 5:17 pm #15851
Jawsey regretfully puts his sword cane aside and takes a plain wooden one instead. He could probably do without for as long as this was apt to take, but he did enjoy the affectation.
Getting out of the car he whispered to Mato “Don’t worry, I’m sure you are still more lethal than almost anyone else in the building.”February 13, 2019 at 7:40 pm #15906
You arrive unmolested to the hotel room after a security check and SIN identification. Nobody seems to be following you to the room. Once you knock on the door, a wooden manikin opens it. It is slow to move but instantly acknowledge you, and allows you in. Inside the room, you find another wooden manikin and a short woman that wears a very unusual suit. The awakened members of the team feel deep in their bones that mana is especially thick and sluggish, there is plenty of it but it is somehow aspected away from them. The woman is slow to react and does not feel entirely there with you. Her eyes are glazed and seem to stop on you as well as on empty spaces.
The woman speaks and the air in the room responds to her voice, the voice is a single voice but makes you feel as if it is composed of a thousand little voices that cooperate in near harmony to create it, but the harmony is not perfect, and the result is, therefore, a bit awkward. It is also not completely synchronized with her lips. “No Pizza, I see…” she says. A tiny barely audible voice replies “I told you emoticons are no good”. The woman then says “Do not touch anything” in her thousand voices words. She then leads the team to a small kitchen. She pours them glasses of tea. “Please, drink before we get to business… I have your money – and you have my card. It is a good day” the electricity in the apartment flickers as she mentions the card.February 14, 2019 at 1:06 am #15911
Mato produces the card and holds it up so that the mystic can see it. He doesn’t readily accept the tea. He has a top-of-the-line nephritic screen but things are spooky enough that he doesn’t want to test it by ingesting something bioawakened. Plus the flicker of electricity makes him nervous; electricity and cyberlimbs don’t always play well together.
Mato looks to Jawsey and hopes that he can take point on the talky bits, and to do the drinking too if they can’t get out of the social obligation.February 15, 2019 at 8:59 am #15932
Jawsey takes the tea, then raises it as if offering a toast, and replies “To good days.”. He knows that is a little gauche, but he wants to set some expectations around his behavior.
After toasting he takes a careful sip to check on the temperature of the tea. No matter the temperature he proceeds holds it up to his mouth to blow on for a moment, inhales the aroma, and only then takes a further sip. During that moment of focus on the tea he also takes a peak at the astral.
Returning his focus to meatspace he says “Thank you for your hospitality, may we have the opportunity to return it some day.”Spoiler:February 16, 2019 at 12:53 am #15946
The woman frowns at Mato but drinks with Jawsey. The tea is not magical, but it may be a reagent for some tradition. Regardless of its arcane utility, it is sweet and invigorating and sharpens the senses. Which makes you think if it has some sort of drugs with it?
(Gain +1 intuition for 20 minutes. Magical traditions threshold 2 to know which one).
Once done, the woman places a credstick on the table and says “The card” the lights flickers again as she mentions the card.February 17, 2019 at 8:18 am #15963
Jawsey nods to Mato, agreeing “It is time, bring out The Card“. At the same time he AROs <<Sorry for being all pretentious about it, I just wanted to see if the lights would do their thing for me too.>>
