Yeah, I’ve been getting pretty depressed over the holiday season and I just keep giving no fucks about anything. I don’t think I am really motivated anymore, and should probably step out.

“Well, I’ve got spirits of man and spirits of water, but unless they’re bound – something I don’t practice – they won’t do just anything. The spirits of man I beckon will help with deceit, falsehoods, and misdirection, and the water spirits like to do just about anything that involves them actively manipulating the world, but both of them are doers – scouting and surveilance is outside their wheelhouse. If we can zero in a little, though, I have a clairvoyance spell I can use.”
((OOC: This is where the house rules I had laid down on spirits would come into play. Ginsburg knows his tradition’s illusion and manipulation spirits, but he’d need his detection spirit for something like this.))

Ginsburg looks to the floor of the cab and chuckles. “Well this is a hell of a showing on my first day, isn’t it? The spirits I can summon are more about sabotage and deceit. One of them might be persuaded to help us scout if we’ve got a concrete plan in place for a con where it’s part of the legwork, but they won’t go in for a general stakeout. I usually use watchers for that sort of thing, but I need to get a new lodge up before I can start making them again.”

Ginsburg waits for Mato to park and leans forward from the back seat.
“So before we head in, are we planning on staking it out and heading back, or do we want to go in wearing illusions? If I can persuade a spirit to help me out, I should be able to sustain a mask on the three of us, but if they’ve got any sort of astral overwatch in the mall, we may want to save it for when we need it.”
He scratches the back of his neck. “So this may be a little thin until we know the lay of the land a little better, but my go-to has always been grifts over smash and grabs, and I had a thought I figured I float by you. The Fuchi-Two-For-One is an oldy but a goodie. Usually used for scamming someone out of corporate scrip, but I think it could be applicable here. Basically, we got a credstick with the cash on it – we’d need to grab ourselves a second that looks the same – I figure that should be easy to pick up in a mall – and load it with, say, enough nuyen for someone to buy lunch. When the exchange goes down, we’d have to make sure we’re all sitting. We pass them the real stick, let them scan it to make sure it checks out, but insist we have the card in hand before it goes into their pocket. Once everything is on the table, someone spills a drink, and a in the hustle to mop it up, a little sleight of hand puts the real stick back with us and the fake on the table.”

Sorry I’ve been scarce! I went to visit my grandparents for the holidays and the internet was out when I got here, but it’s back up now, so I’ll be catching up on what I missed and posting.

When the Matrix crashed we lost our decker, and all the corners the local government had been cutting on redeveloping it ended up working out for them that day – they weren’t as reliant on the Matrix as our team was. Guess I’m lucky it was a government property or I’d probably still be rotting in a cell on some corporate black site.”

Ginsburg grabs his hat and yanks it down over his brow. “Well, I wound up in the clink the day of the last crash, so this wireless stuff is new to me, but I’m always down for a meatspace stakeout.”

How do I change my profile picture? Also, someone mentioned that the dice roller we’d been using doesn’t work on these forums, I think – do we have any alternatives?

Ginsburg perks up. “Actually, I do. A basic illusion spell that can mask your appearance, and fool footage as well. I don’t know how to make people invisible – yet – but I can mask sounds. I’m partial to grifts myself – big fan of the Kansas City Shuffle and the Bavarian Fire Drill, but I’d need to know more about the target before we can plan for that sort of thing.”

Yeah, I’m just not super sure about when I should speak up. I don’t want to be too presumptious coming into an existing party (would Ginsburg have had a chance to tag along with the group, or is he waiting for the meet back at his place?)
Also, I was wondering if I could swap out his sociology knowledge skill (hasn’t been used yet) for something pertaining to con and grift strategies, or if that would just be covered by the con skill.

Ginsburg takes the replica card from Gao and tucks it into turns to regard the rest of the group. “Well, looking forward to working with you then.” He tips his hat as it were something far classier than an old baseball cap and moves towards the door as he examines Gao’s duplicate card.
