Have you ever seen the old role play game “high colonies” I have a scan of the back ground part on my drive if you want to have sneeky peeky. It very much earth is toast but the solar system remains.

@Adamu: I know you don’t want to play an active part in the IC as a PC but as before the offer is there to make cameo appearances as any NPC or even as a digital construct designed around Al to offer sage words of advice at inappropriate moments!
@Beta, @Gilga, @Tecumseh, @Electric_Muppet, @Obidancer: You are all more than welcome to pitch in on this thread if you think it might be interesting! I can’t remember if you’ve all seen the original sales pitch so let me know one way or the other and we can discuss options! Would be good to get at least one more PC to help momentum…
Basic premise, this is set in a possible future timeline (see the timeline on OP) where things have not gone to plan. It will borrow from Eclipse Phase and other similar RP types but be rooted in SR and our ongoing metagame…
Planning to try an initial foray and see how it goes and then plan future runs moving away from Earth…

Tempting, but still so many ramifications continuity-wise….BUT – more than happy and delighted to help out by voicing any NPCs you need – I’ll keep up with this thread, and you PM me about anyone you want me to be and the parameters.

I was thinking more of an AI programmed with Al’s personality rather than pre-recorded messages, then there’s no continuity, its a voice in the ‘present’ that is based on what Al might have said in that situation

So, Alyce is coming to Earth on a space ship and it is about 250 years in the future from the SoP threads. Does she still have her tech stuff? Are her homes in Cornwall and London still standing and habitable? I think I need a bit more background on what is happening to Earth and to Alyce, please.

Safe to say though that the world has gone to rat shit… I doubt much of London is standing, there’s a chance that a more remote farmhouse might have made it… liveable is open to debate!
Yes, you have tech, probably some future tech too although we’ll worry about that later if it comes up…
Happy to answer more questions but doubt I’ll be ICing much now until Monday, sorry 😛

Thanks for the invite It sounds very cool, and Forty could still be alive or Addie could be a body swapper … But unfortunately I’m struggling to keep up with the three games I’m in already :-/. Too many cool games, only so much time and creativity.

Dude, really enjoyed your most recent post on this thread.
But, well, I’ve been pretty clear that the main reason I can’t play in this game is that I am far from ready to know how Al’s life ends. It’s a story I may one day want to write, but for now he’s very much alive to me, and I do not want to know his future.
I hope you can understand that.

I intentionally left the manner of Al’s demise completely vague, so it is indeed possible that Al was just MIA after that mission. After all, it has happened in the past. I totally would believe that The Old One is keeping Al’s true fate a secret from Alyce in some misguided notion that it is for her own good that she not know.
If you want to say that he has been in touch with her, I am more than willing to rewrite the post to indicate that.

No – because I have no idea if he would, be in touch with her, as that is so far in his future (the future i don’t want to know anything about and don’t want to have decided for me).
But as long as we can all have the understanding that just because Alyce in her mind assumes he is dead, that doesn’t mean that he is.
Except that the Old One’s words seem to confirm that he is.
Maybe if he was just silent on the topic, instead of going on at length about how necessary Al’s death was.I think it’s fun that you guys are playing your characters way out into the future, but I don’t think it’s any secret how attached I am to Al, and I really would prefer people not write his distant future.
As I said, as long as his death is strictly Alyce’s assumption, I suppose that’s fine. Though that would mean committing to a decision now whether or not he would ever get in touch with her after (whatever happened).
Writing other people’s futures is tricky business, especially when they said they don’t want to play in the game because that’s exactly something they are not ready to do.
I do hope you can understand that.
