Will have to check the tarot site out… I’ve got a nice new copy of the sixth world tarot to play with ?
-
I have it (pre-order edition 😀 ) and it’s really nice. But I can’t really use it here sadly :'(
-
Sure you can, I’ve taken photos of the cards I want to show and I’ll put them on the OP site as and when needed… if only I could find the time amidst all this IC to actually read Book of the Lost ?
-
Please feel free to describe yourselves in detail so the other players have an idea of your general appearance. Now that we are together, let’s see what we can do with this.
-
By the way, the family name of Adel is Taipa (page 9) she is originally from Atzlan.
-
Sorry for inviting myself to your meeting… shockingly rude 🙂
It’s fun to play Dream with a bit of bite…no pun intended…yet 😀
-
Apparently Dream is manifesting. To me, that means others can see him, right? But I do not know for sure. Any ideas to help me? I would like to post a response.
-
Without getting into if Dream is manifesting or not (not my place):
A Manifested spirit / astral projecting Mage / etc. can be seen by others, and interacted with by communication.
Actually affecting the Manifestation and / or the Manifestation affecting others depends on what is Manifesting exactly.(
Spirits are actually present, and can be attacked / attack others.
AP Mages, can’t do anything to affect others and can’t be affected.)EDITed:
I got Materialization mixed up with Manifestation.
Everything I said about Manifestation is correct.
Spirits Materialize, and that is why they can interact with people and objects. -
I get them mixed too… so yes, he’s manifesting which means he is only detectable by living things… although it’s a grey area on Alyce’s sensors as they are implanted and paid for with essence… by RAW that means they can see him, personally I think that’s a bit dubious but still… you can hear him in any case.
-
LOL I was actually thinking I could not see him and was just responding to his voice.
-
Implants being paid with Essence, they are a part of you, as much as your brain or every other part you didn’t mess with. That is why if Caroline used Shapechange, you wouldn’t have any problems with the change itself and after: you’d be a perfectly normal specimen of whatever animal Caroline picked, with no Cyber. And when the spell ends, you’re back to your cyber self.
In fact, hearing manifested Mages (or seeing them) may very well ignore the senses as we think of them. A pretty strong argument could be made that you perceive a manifested mage through your own aura (as damaged as it is) so it doesn’t matter if you’re deaf / blind with no implants to fix that.I do however have a problem before that, with Dream being able to listen from the astral. The rules are pretty clear on that: whatever is in the Astral, stays in the astral. Whatever is in the meat world, stays there too. This is why for example you can no longer cast a spell at someone from the astral if that person is not himself there.
Being able to spy from the Astral makes Mages much more powerful as a spy resource than they should be. Since Caroline is a Mage, I wouldn’t mind too much (go figure), but it has a real impact on the balance of power (which is probably biased enough as it is) in favour of the Mages.
-
Oh and on another note, there’s a problem on your sheet Gilga:
SR5, page 279: “For adepts, losing Essence is doubly dangerous because every time your Magic attribute is reduced, you lose an equal number of Power Points (you have to “un-buy” powers to make up the loss).”
So you can’t have all those adept powers with your Magic rating of 2.
-
Well, I took the mentor’s mask from forbidden arcana (giving me +1 power point, and a mentor spirit).
-
Oh, oops, my bad, I must have missed that on your sheet, that’ll teach me, sorry.

This may be remembered from previous editions… I’ve been at this a long time… but astral mages have always been able to see and hear the mundane plane (albeit filtered from the astral view) provided it wasn’t a technological source (and you’ve never been able to cast a spell from the astral to the mundane, even manifested… and you can no longer drop a spell through the astral barrier via an active focus which is both good and bad 😀 ). Oh and they can’t read text even manifested. So they are extremely useful as spies, that’s why everything of worth is surrounded by a damn big ward!

From the CRB, p312:
Things that exist only on the material plane can be seen and heard from the astral, but they are blurred and muted as the emotion- al context of people and things registers more than physical properties of light and sound (in many ways they are a substitution for those properties).
Like I said, I don’t mind if we decide it’s more than that (hell, I’m the only one who can take advantage of it after all), but it’s just not the official rules (anymore maybe).
-
Fair enough… you can always manifest with your face sticking through the ceiling, people don’t look up that often! ?
