AM has 16 karma for the ally spirit. OOC no problem in giving some karma for information, but I look forward of you telling her that she needs to give up parts of her soul/experiences/insights about life to a spirit she does not know. She might do it, but do not expect her to like that.

Alright, in that case let’s do an IC post from @beta where he goes back and pitches this deal to AM. Might be good RP.

@beta Just confirming that you’re planning on an IC post to bring this nefarious deal back to the wider team.

I’d forgotten that was needed. will write now.

I’m not opposed to Jack’s proposal of deferring payment until after the end of the run, nor capping the payment.

I’d also be open to the notion of a midgame award. We’re 60 posts in, so roughly 15 posts each, which is about 7 karma each in Aria’s accounting. Since karma is an abstraction, there’s no right or wrong way about when to award it.

@beta Go ahead and take the deal back to Green Toes ICly and we’ll go from there.

I don’t think there’s been much movement on any of the boards recently, but I wanted to bump this and make sure it doesn’t fall off the radar.

@beta Let me know if you want me to return things ICly to Green Toes.

    IC-ing now.

Looks like we’ll have to miss out on the secret until after the run at the Funhouse.

I’m fine with variability in the value of info that we get from GreenToes. And in general he may not be always available karma-to-nuyen converter. Loyalty is only so high, may not always be findable, that sort of thing. So if it happens occasionally it is a nuyen boost of some random value, I’m good with that.

I don’t think we have to wait for the information after the Funhouse. After all getting paid after verification of the intel is pretty standard of – especially since green toes won’t have any trouble finding us to extract the payment.

From a narrative perspective it makes more sense to do the ritual before the Funhouse. Doing it at the end, after the job is complete, will just feel like tacking it on at the end. Plus we’ll probably all be tired at that point anyway.

Let’s just do a mid-chapter karma award and remove some of the OOC considerations. Through the first 3 pages, everyone gets 7 karma.

Per Street Grimoire, the ritual takes 1 hour per point of karma. I’m going to say that everyone can transfer karma simultaneously, so if everyone gives 2 karma then the ritual will take 2 hours total, not 6 hours.

It’s mid-morning right now. There’s technically enough time for a 1-hour transfer before the meet with Andrew at noon, but if you want to do a 2-karma/hour (or more) transfer that will have to wait until after lunch.

In terms of next steps, let’s do this:

    1) If anyone has anything they want to do before the meet with Andrew, there’s about an hour.

    2) If not, we’ll move onto the meet with Andrew at noon.

    3) We can do the ritual after once everyone decides how much karma they’ll commit to it.

Sure, let’s go to the meet with Andrew.

    should I edit my IC?

Maybe just tweak it to schedule something with Green Toes for the afternoon.

I tweaked my second last post (the one where he said maybe later on the secret). I didn’t put the meeting location IC because it is something we need to discuss.

    – It could be at the team’s HQ, but we may or may not be comfortable doing that?

    – Anywhere else would risk issues with either security or gangs (or possibly both, or a mix). Tecumseh is the Seattle native and has the best take on gangs of Redmond so might hvae the best idea of a place that this could be done? That said it seems that Marymoor park isn’t too far from our HQ, and where the Sammamish River flows out of the Sammamish Lake should be very identifiable to a spirit. We’d likely have to either pay-off or chase off someone claiming the turf if we were to be doing a ritual for a couple of hours, however.

Whether or not you’re comfortable doing the ritual in your HQ is up to you.

I don’t know if Marymoor Park has a canon description. (It’s a gorgeous park in real life.) It’s just south of Touristville, between Redmond and Bellevue. I know at least one user-created map that put it in a C-zone, which seems reasonable. I imagine that makes it something like Central Park in the 1970s: safe(ish) during the day but not at night. Whether you’d be comfortable there for an hour-plus in the middle of the afternoon is a bit of a question mark. The ritual isn’t well defined so it’s not clear if Bobby turning into a bear to scare someone off would disrupt the ritual. I guess he could just be a bear the entire time to dissuade people from investigating too closely.

I might also suggest that Council Island is plausible. I think non-Natives need a tourist visa to visit, but Natives (such as yourselves) can get by with less paperwork. Bobby has a National SIN, Jawsey has a good fake, and … AM has nothing? @gilga is that right? Her background mentions a fake SIN but her sheet doesn’t have anything listed. Well, she at least looks the part. She might be able to sweet-talk her way onto the Island.

I planned for her to have a very minimal R2 SIN, but I did not add it to her sheet. I am trying to figure out how it fell between the cracks, but it did. For consistency, I added it now (+5k debt to pay for it).

So did you pay for it but not write it down, or did you just forget to buy it altogether?

I don’t remember so I assume that I did not pay it and increased the debt.

    Shit indeed.

I was writing my IC while only half-awake, so I’m not sure how well I finessed Jawsey’s words. He is trying to avoid enthusiastic consent without actually saying ‘no.’ and also trying to plant some seeds of doubt in Andrew’s mind (but understanding that the man would not back down at this point).

I would encourage you to not assume too much about what is or isn’t possible. This isn’t a binary yes/no situation. I can think of at least four different outcomes depending on your approach.

It gets back to what I was saying about the meet with the Mayor: saying ‘no’ is a valid option and doesn’t derail the Chapter. The same thing is true here. Everything’s possible, but consequences differ. Some options are more profitable than others, for example, and some approaches will please certain parties while angering others. There’s also some leeway for you to influence the future of the district, depending on whose vision you find more appealing and/or realistic.

Let’s get some knowledge skill checks, although they might not tell you much more than you already know:

    AM – gangs

    Bobby – Underworld (Yakuza)

    Jawsey – Redmond gangs
