Claudia nods and looks thoughtful for a bit. “I think emergency care would be good, so perhaps some good first aid training and some medkits would be a nice start.”
Jacques looks interested. “New York? Whoee, the big city, eh? I have heard about some of the things that go on out there, so you three please stay careful. heavens only knows what would become of us all if something happened to even one of you.”

Tatjana grins as the smoke dissipates. “That was unexpected and quite, well, we should probably try something different with that thing.”
She receives the mental message from her spirit and acknowledges that it has completed its required service. Turning to the others, she says, “My spirit searcher has located the man in the photo that Kynos showed me. He was seen at a small restaurant/service station about 20km west of the city. Does anyone have a map we can compare the location to?”

Hmmm. I am not too sure about the BGC effect on foci. Does that apply to bound foci? If so, there are many places in the gaming world that have a slight BGC, which would make foci pretty useless. I was under the impression that the BGC reduced the effect of foci but I could be wrong,
In any case. would not the cleansing metamagic remove the effects of BGC for Sian?

Magwen and the other women from the village seem disappointed that Cynthia is not allowed to partake of the feast, but Claudia and Sandy try to make up for it. There is a lot of talk and Cynthia is given all the juice she wants. Claudia nods when Cynthia mentions Doc Winston. “Sure thing. I can ask him about adding to his staff or if he has other ideas. It would not hurt to have some sort of medical person at each of our major sites, right?”
Jacques nods sympathetically. “We will do all we can to get you out of here on time. It might take a day or two to get those lists to you, if that is alright?”

Tatjana cannot see into the box from her vantage point, but she does note the smoking particles that seem to change into a dark plume. That is coupled with the drop in mana levels. She quickly goes into her cleansing maneuvers, her hands creating glowing green sigils that drop into position about her as she intones some sort of foreign incantation.

Jacques nods. “As you wish, Miss.”
Claudia frowns and shakes her head a bit. “Not really……well, maybe. There was a guy I used to know. He was a nurse, though, not a doctor. I could contact him and see if he is interested or has any recommendations.”
Jacques takes the time to introduce the three mistresses to the people that congregate along the tour, which is just about everyone in the small village. The tour itself is pretty short and ends in the Jacques’ house, where a small repast has been prepared.

Tatjana shakes her head and takes the mental sneer from her summoned spirit in stride. She knows that she cannot please every spirit she summons, but at least this one is off doing its assigned chore.
She looks around as the last of her centering sigils fade away and catches the last part of Kynos’ statement. “It could be for magical supplies, such as reagents, he has others collecting. Of course, it could also be for something more mundane, like paying for escort services or day labor for some sort of temporary job. Are the normal invoices to the same individual or business entity?”

Jacques holds up his hands in surrender and grins. “Whoa, Mistress. And here you are all about the business first, trying to get me in trouble with the womenfolk here. Let us commence the tour and some eats, then back to the business.”
He does give Cynthia a wink and whispers to her. “Thanks for the heads up on what you need, though. I will think on it and try to have some answers for you after the eats.” He raises his voice back to normal as he leads the tour of the small community nestled among the huge Cyprus trees. There are perhaps fifty or so huts suspended among the branches of the trees, some appearing to be partially inside the massive trees. Catwalks and suspension bridges link the various structures and many have stairways circling the trees that end up on small docks and piers, each with their own small bayeau boats tied up to them.
Claudia nudges Cynthia as she stares in wonder at the small town. “Did you mean like a clinic with a doctor and some nurses? Maybe a dentist or OB-GYN as well?”

Tatjana takes the photo from Kynos and steps aside a bit, making sure that her actions are hidden from casual view of those outside of her small group. She begins to move her hands in the practiced motions to Center herself to assist in resisting drain. The words of her centering invocation might seem rough to those with sensitive souls, but soon there are several small sigils floating about her, each glowing green with their power.
Once the centering is complete, Tatjana begins the process of summoning a spirit. Her hands move at an increased speed, dropping more sigils into the space about her as she chants the words of the summoning. The shimmering form of a man-like apparition appears before her, obviously trying to resist the call. Ultimately, the spirit bows its head and accepts Tatjana as its temporary mistress.
Tatjana’s next challenge is to resist the physical drain of summoning a Force 12 spirit and the pressure shows in her face as she battles the power of the drain. Fortunately, her centering sigils help her resit the drain and she emerges unscathed from the experience. She shows the photo from Kynos to the spirit and commands it to search for the man in the photo. “Thank you, Gorf, for your service to me. He should be near, but you may have to go farther afield than the limits of your attachment to me, so this is the only service I will require of you. Seek this man out and let me know where he can be found. He is likely to be protected by a toxic spirit, so be cautious in your approach. Again, thank you for your service.”
Tatjana motions with a hand and the spirit moves off.

Jacques nods again as the introductions are made. He looks around at the several women standing near him. “It would be worth my continued health if I were to discuss business before showing you about and feeding you. If you have the time, that is? I know that you are probably very busy.”

During the drive, Tatjana looks through the papers that Al handed her. She does her best to read the documents, pausing only when Al pulls up near her boarding house. She quickly recovers her gear and tosses it into the back of the Gaz then climbs aboard.
She nods to Kynos as he climbs in. She gives a slight grimace at his question but nods her head. “I have some skill at summoning, if you think it will help, but my computer skills are pretty basic.”
Tatjana looks up from the papers in her hands as Al approaches Containerville. She has seen similar areas in almost every large and small city she has been to and has lived for extended periods of time in some very wild areas while on a dig.

Tatjana watches as Kynos drives away then looks over at Rebecca and smiles. “Thanks for the warning. Since breaking keypad security is not my forte, I will not try to open it until Al can get to it.”
She opens the passenger door of the Gaz and climbs into the vehicle. She gives a satisfied smile as she considers that fate has brought her additional clues to the whereabouts of the artifact as well as potential allies in its recovery. Her mind harkens back to Boston and she nods her head; at least this time it does not appear that there are other Greats competing for the prize.

Tatjana laughs. “Sure, but I do not know how many you have already promised seats to. I appreciate the ride. I only have my pack and a set of snowshoes to pick up, but I do thank you.
She nods. “I can certainly take a look at the thing, but I do not want to ruffle any feathers. I am, after all, a sort of interloper.”

Tatjana gives Becky a long look then shrugs her shoulders and nods. “Of course.”
She can overlook the girl’s appearance of rudeness; after all, she does not know her and it is likely just that the Dryad might be suspicious of the newcomer. Tatjana smiles at Becky and walks to the Gaz.

She nods at Kynos then looks over to Al. “You got room in the Gaz for me?”
