    1) From what I read of the spell I should be able to do that.

“The material can be moved and reshaped in any way the caster desires at a maximum Movement Rate of (net hits) meters per turn.”

I understand your concern about rock, but this is a magical effect and as long as the OR is overcome, it should be possible. I will, of course go with your ruling.

    2) The spirit had 7 successes against being summoned. I rolled 14 dice for the drain. I am sorry if the way I put it was confusing.

Good question. She did leave the F12 spirit outside the tunnel and I am not sure who, if anyone is coming into the super nice tunnel Sian is creating

Cast Shape Earth spell at F12

    Cast Spell: 20d6t5 = 14

Object Resistance: Normally 3, but Mystic Foreman quality reduces that by 12. I am assuming it cannot go below 1. 1d6t5 = 0

Move at 14m per turn through the dirt. I will roll again if I go into rock because that would be a different spell. The actual movement rate is probably a bit less because Sian will take the time to make sure that the tunnel is supported with compressed earth supports.

    Drain: 10d6t5 = 4

    Resist Drain: 20d6t5 = 11

    No Drain

@beta: Thanks for the info. I am sure that the BGC will have an effect and am hoping that she can power through it.

    Summon Spirit: 19d6t5 = 12

    Spirit Resist: 12d6t5 = 7

    Five tasks

Optional Powers: Guard, Fear, Noxious Breath, Elemental Attack

    Drain: 14d6t5 = 6

    Resist Physical Drain: 21d6t5 = 9

    No Drain

Sian nods and steps a bit away from the others. She intones words in a foreign language that sensitive ears and souls find a bit discomforting as she begins to move her hands in specific patterns. Glowing green glyphs form about her and settle into place as she goes through her centering steps. Once finished, she goes right into summoning a mighty spirit of air, selecting a force twelve form. The conflict with the spirit is sharp but relatively short and a whirlwind form is soon bent to her will, but there is a cost this time. Sian grimaces in pain as the battle of wills brings physical damage to her. It is not unexpected when summoning creatures of such power.

Sian commands the spirit to clear the snow from an area about her and has to duck her eyes as the creature does its task, gleefully sending some of the snow into the face of its captor. When sufficient ground is uncovered, Sian commands the spirit to go observe the house in the clearing, instructing it to report on the activities of those withing the structure and near it. She reminds the spirit to remain within its eleven hundred meter range of her unless otherwise ordered.

The spirit moves off to fulfill its task and Sian begins to create a new set of glyphs about her. She moves her hands and the dirt moves to one side or another as the earth at her feet begins to shape itself into the form of a sloping tunnel into the ground. Calling on her knowledge of several skills involved, Sian forms supports for the tunnel out of compact earth as she heads underground.

Sandy looks over at Claudia then back to Cynthia. “I guess we should look at that sort of thing. I hate all of this just happening like it was some sort of dream. It feels like we should be doing something to give back. There should be some way that we can be of use, after all, we do have skills, right?”

The horses can be heard before they are seen. James comes around the corner of one of the buildings, leading the mounts. He nods to the three women and helps them get on the horses as needed. “Nice visit, I trust? You timed it pretty much perfectly for us to get back to the House.”

Sian nods again, this time to Kynos. “The short story is that I should be able to detect the toxic area. I would expect the mage there to have some sort of spirit out and about to protect him and I can summon one of my own to try to deal with that. I guess the real decision is how you want to use my skills; either up on the surface to overwatch the situation, or digging a tunnel to try to get to the cabin. I think there are advantages in either so am willing to go with the team on this one.”

This is an OOC post. I do not seem able to post there. Sian can see on both the normal and astral, so does that allow her to see this toxic? I think so, but I cannot find the specific rule. Does it just take an astral perception roll or something?

Sian nods at Al then includes the others. “Sums it up pretty well, yes. The artifact is a type of ring that was used by lesser dragons a long time ago to channel power. Unfortunately, some of the lesser dragons failed to hold onto all of their trinkets and some of these rings are no longer accounted for. Some have fallen into the hands of mortals, who can use them in ways that usually top the Not So Good list. My Master has tasked me to recover this one and I could use your help doing so. I am willing to assist you in your mission if you would let me take the artifact as my payment for doing so. In fact, I can offer to sweeten your payment if you would allow. My Master would be willing to increase your current offer by half in his gratitude.”

She also has shape dirt (earth), but I have to admit to not having shape snow. She would need to clear the top layer off. Perhaps a satanic demon of air or fire could do that for her.

Good point, Aria, but I think that it is less of an issue than it might be. Sian has the quality of Mystic Foreman, which makes it much easier…..if I have read it correctly, of course……….to get past the OR. Also, she has no problem sustaining the spell as long as she does little more than shape the material. Also, I think that she does have the ability to quicken the spell.

Please let me know if I have got this wrong.

The grayish tones to the overcast sky are comforting to Tatjana. Although her quickened spell limits the damage to the sun’s rays, it is still unpleasant.

Tatjana has tried to maintain some sort of silence during the ride, holding her pack on her lap to limit the bouncing it takes. At the stop she listens to the plans being made and shrugs her shoulders. “I can make one or more people invisible, but that might mean little in this snow as you would still leave tracks. I could summon another spirit, er demon, if you think it would help. And I could dig a good tunnel to get us under the building and come at them that way.”

Tatjana turns to look at Al then slowly nods her head. “Yes, I can see how that might be the case. And it is not like we really made any plans here. Does she stick to plans that are made, though?”

She nods to Kynos and climbs back into the rear seat of the Gaz, shaking her head a bit.

Cynthia Rawson – 09:25, Sunday June 16th, Swamp, Serenity, Cajun Town, Seattle

The farewells take almost as long as the welcomes, but the group is back in the small boats soon after the meal. Promises have been made to increase the contact between the swamp and the house and it seems that everyone is smiling. The trip back through the swamp is pretty much a repeat of earlier and the small group is eventually back at the docks and the collection of huts.

Tatjana is nodding to Kynos as she exits the vehicle when the other truck shows up and the young Dryad jumps out and runs into the restaurant. She shakes her head. “Wow. OK, so much for that plan. Does she always act like that? It could be dangerous at times.”

Jacques shakes his head. “A will? Probably a good idea, that. Just be safe and you will not need one, right?”

Magwen shows up with some containers. “Here are some left overs for you to eat later. Just have cook warm them up a bit. She will know what to do.”

Tatjana nods at the armored man as she slides across the seat back into the rear seat. There, she takes the opportunity to check that her gear is still intact. After all, it would not do to have her special carrying pack ruined.

She feels the background count influence fading as the Gaz leaves the container area. She shakes her head. Count can be an issue because it forces her to take valuable time to negate it; time an opponent is usually prepared for. She still remembers Boston and the truly mad effects of what happened there.

When the vehicle pulls up at the service center, she looks about then chuckles. “I am thinking that it may be a bit odd if all of us just go inside. My guess is that they are not used to seeing metal maids or full battle armor here. Perhaps Al can do some scouting for us inside, or maybe Al and me?”

Tatjana nods as Al comments on the box and watches him as he tosses it into the back seat of the Gaz. “Thank you for thinking of me, Al, but I can handle a bit of juju-suckin. I am OK if you want to go it without me, but I am willing to help.”

She looks down at her chest and laughs out loud at his question. “Thank you, Al, but I can remember what Elvira looks like and I do not have her curves. As to the demon, no. I am afraid that he has completed his service and has already departed back to the Astral. I can, however, summon another one once we get to the service station area, if we think it would be worthwhile.”

She smiles as she looks over at Kynos and eyes him up and down. “Hey, big guy. I think that you might be more comfortable in the front seat with all that body armor, so why don’t I just slip into the rear seat?”
