OOC: Shooting Stars

This is very badass of her. I must admit that the fact that we don’t have mages in this run makes things more interesting.
-
Just to point out OOC that Preston is currently slowly venting out the SCUBA tanks, so if Lilly wants any she should grab something quickly. Sadly we IC’d using the sled batteries to power the life support pod, so we don’t have the option of giving her the sled for faster movement.
Also: darn-it, I should have found a way to get a gyrojet pistol for Preston. When we were heading to the island I just had this feeling that one would come in handy, but without local contacts it seemed like something hard to get, and I was busy, so I didn’t try to write up the effort to track one down. Not sure how Lilly is with pistols but generally speaking those offer more underwater range than do most things.
-
Lily is damned good with pistols but no use crying over spilt milk ?. She has a 2hr internal air tank so not worried about scuba. She may be metal but she’s strong and with a buoyancy aid I was planning on staying more or less on station… the sled would have been handy though
-
You remember that you still have the under water sleds, right? 😉
-
Yah, Preston will totally get you out … soon as I figure out how!
@Jack: software test? Biomedicine type test?
-
As Beta pointed out a few posts up – we assumed the sleds weren’t available since we said we used their batteries to keep the pod powered….
-
Well, you used the cooling trick to stabilize the system, so you might be able to spare one of the battery packs – then again, you do know that the Wayfarers have some heavily augmented personell themselves, so don’t expect this fight to be a pushover.
@Beta
Interestingly enough, there is no hacking power that would allow you to lock someone else out. You have to crash the link-lock program first, so the hostage can change device mode. -
She doesn’t want to fight, just disable the boats ?. Thorn is welcome to join her!!
-
I’ll try to look up that process tonight (crashing the link-lock program)
-
Looks in CRB: Crash Program is cybercombat+logic vs (in this case) rating x2
Looks on character sheet: cybercombat =1
Hunh, I should have invested in improving that, I guess. But since I didn’t, and he only has 1 edge left, spend 30 karma to buy up edge from 5 to 6, and spend what is now his second last edge point to edge the roll.Crash link lock program: 16d6t5 6
pod resist: 14d6t5 6I … don’t currently have a plan B. Will sleep on it to see if I can come up with anything to get an extra die to support a re-roll, but the only one of the team with cybercombat is Becky, who is in the sim, and her agent, that is commanded by Becky, so it doesn’t look like teamwork is an option.
In a pinch I’ll go to plan Z — burn that newly bought point of edge to buy 4 successes. But as I said I’ll give myself the night to come up with something else first.
-
Don’t sweat it. The pod has only 12 defense dice. So you actually made it 😀
-
Woops, my fault for going by memory instead of looking back to check the device rating. I’ll put something up in IC to bring us back in line. Also I forgot his hot sim bonus (yet again).
-
Sneaking+Intuition (?!?) roll to avoid being seen slipping in to the water 11D
Agility would be much higher but Intuition feels appropriate…
11d6t5: 2 [11d6t5=6, 3, 1, 4, 3, 2, 4, 6, 4, 2, 3]
Happy to Edge that if necessary…
-
Aria timeline wise, when is this thread compared to your thread?
-
Which thread?? The FA and now SF one? I’d need to double check the timeline… but it’s linked on OP if you want to look for yourself…
I vaguely think it is a couple of months after FA

@Gilga: Forbidding Aegis/Smoke Flowers is June 2078, Shooting Stars is September 2078, Dome Sweet Home is November 2079!
Back to the action:
I’m assuming there’s an outboard engine, hopefully there isn’t two! Also hoping that I can destroy it in a shot or two without killing the boat… so lots of hoping!!
Savalette Guardian [A5(7), 8P, –5AP, SA/BF, R1, 18 (c)] w. Smartgun System, Extended Clip, Silencer, Concealable Quick Draw Holster, 2 Spare Clips, 45 APDS Rnds
Agi 11, Pistols 6, Smart 1, Call Shot Vitals (outboard) -4, Edge 7 (any mods for waves/range etc down to Jack)
= 21d6h5: 7 [21d6h5=4, [6, 4], 1, 4, 2, 3, 2, [6, 4], 2, 5, 2, 3, 3, 5, [6, 2], 3, 5, 2, 3, 2, [6, 3]]Edge remaining 6/7 (I don’t think I’ve used any yet?!? I suspect I might need it soon!)
Initiative 12+3D6 = 21

Aria, I don’t remember Lilly having rolled anything that would have called for edge, at least not down in Panama, so I’d agree that she is starting with a full pool.
And given that Jack hasn’t said anyting about the weather being awful, and we are still in deep water, the waves should be quite long, which makes relative motion at least fairly predictable. (and right behind a boat is generally a bit calmer than outside its wake, so Lilly shouldn’t be getting much chop from whatever local breeze there is), so the shot shouldn’t be too hard to make.
I can’t comment on how loud outboard engines will be in 2078, but right now they are very loud when running at any reasonable power rating — sitting near one makes conversation difficult. Internal combustion engine with no effective muffler on it. But they could be using electric engines or something for the rafts.
-
hmmm – even electric motors – you can’t muffle prop wash in water. And even low waves and minimal wind, I’d be pretty surprised if a silenced shot was very audible to someone on the open sea in a motorized inflatable….But then I’m not the GM!!!
-
Great, so Rebbeca can fly to help Lilly. I got her that power after Forbbiden Agies.
Movement + levitation = super heroine 😉
