Do we have any timeline when other characters will get involved? After the post storm yesterday, I am trying to slow down a bit to give others a chance to jump in.

Forgot the main reason for this post.The “call in” was just letting Mother Corp know where Baku was going and what timeline he expected. The greeting was an identifier. The main part was the information. Should he ever end with “I love you” or similar, it means his cover is blown and the call is likely under duress.

Right now you are separated in time and space from them. As long as we keep it simple and don’t get too far ahead we are good, I think. I am hoping for them to jump in soon.

Core book (2nd Printing) pg. 312:
A magician using astral perception can “wipe clean” a temporary astral signature (such as from sorcery) or hasten its normal fading. A magician can spend a Complex Action to reduce the amount of time it takes for the signature to fade by 1 hour (mentally pushing the signature into the background energy, if you will). No test is required. This action can be done multiple times until the astral signature is gone. If the signature is not completely erased, it will be obvious to others assensing it that someone tampered with it. -
I’m going to roll Judge Intentions on the propositioner for Baku. I figure if it is less than 3 hits, he will get no sign she is anything other than what she appears to be – regardless of the truth, and proceed form there. If it is >=3 hits, I’ll need GM notice on what Baku senses.

Baku senses that the girl is indeed a youngish prostitute who is propositioning him. Besides almost certainly needing the money, she is cold and the car looks warm.

Let’s start off with “no cracks about unexpected assets” on the prostitute. This isn’t Thailand. :p

I forgot, some of his speech in French doesn’t flow very well. This is on purpose. His French is very good, but not really near perfect yet. /EDITAs for the Assensing, I’ll just buy two hits for Baku to be able to judge her general state of health, as well as her general emotions.
Also, don’t get any strange ideas about the recording. It is simply a precaution. Baku has a habit of recording just about everything, and throwing out nearly as much.

Sorry, I forgot a few things. One, Baku is not cruel or mean. There are no conditions or afflictions that will prevent her from winning the bet. Unless she is complete shit at her line of work. He is counting on paying her 50 nuyen, and expecting to pay 100. If she is very good at her work – not terribly likely for a street walker, but you never know – he might even owe her 150 nuyen.
Also, should she physically interact with him, she will certainly have a chance to see through his Physical Mask spell. She needs to roll 4 hits on a Intuition + Logic roll to do so. /EDIT (again)Finally, should I go back and number my posts as well? I haven’t yet, because I figured you would say something if I should.

Very nice post. Thank you for setting the stage and doing some of the interaction.
I put the numbers down so I do not forget. I am in about 12 games in this umbrella campaign and I need to keep track because you can share the points between characters like it is a pool. If I were in just one, it might be easier. the DS site keeps track for you, but not here or SG. It is your choice, but I would recommend that you do so.

Now then, I need a couple of points of clarification before I can make a reply post.
The easy part: And the end of the last post, your writing style for her speaking changed. I’m not sure if that was intended, but it gives it a different cadence suggesting a change in language – without any indication of what language it is in.
Now, as she finishes earning every last nuyen in my wager, Baku will be doing a full Assensing test. She has certainly piqued his interest, and in a good way.

Any astral signatures present on the subject.
The general cause of any astral signature (combat spell, alchemical combat spell, air spirit, and so on).
A general diagnosis for any maladies (diseases or toxins) the subject suffers.
The class of a magical subject (fire elemental, manipulation spell, power focus, curse ritual, and so on). – Does this include “flavor” (Tradition) of mage?
If you have seen the subject’s aura before, you may recognize it, regardless of physical disguises or
alterations.
The subject’s general emotional state or impression (happy, sad, angry, etc.).This list was edited by me to remove unnecessary entries.
With that information, it is probably readily apparent if she is acting or not. 😀
I’d like to know if she is Awakened, and what type (Adept / Aspected / Whatever) before I finalize what Astral Bouncer inquiries I’ll ask for next. They won’t impact the post much, if at all, so that can wait.

**Here are the Masking rules so you don’t need to look them up (Core pg. 326):
Masking: You learn to change the appearance of your aura (and astral form). You can make it look mundane, or make your Magic Rating look higher or lower by up to your grade. When someone tries to read your masked aura, the Assensing Test becomes opposed by your Magic + initiate grade—if they get any net hits, they see both your mask and your real aura. If you can use astral perception, you can even make your aura look like a different type (like a spirit or a focus—great for astral costume parties). You can also use this metamagic to mask the auras of as many of your bonded foci as your initiate grade. -

On reflection, would your look for toxins detect that she is on birth control or not? If it does then you know that she is on something that prevents pregnancies.
If she is acting, she should be nominated for an Oscar.
She is very much not awakened………………..unless she has good masking power, of course. Hmmmm……………………………..bwahaha

–Naturally. My pressing for her Awakened status had little to do with expecting her to be Awakened, and more to do with what Astral Bouncer inquiries were fitting. For example, one of the things that can be detected is an Adept Power. It would be useless to ask about that if she didn’t appear as an Adept. 😉Now, as to what Baku will be looking for with Astral Bouncer:

-all negative qualities**Having said that, since it is how it is written, I am one of those that feels the ability is a little too cheesy. This will require some heavy adjudicating from you (I know you can handle it). Some things should be plain and visible – if not listed by name precisely. Things like Astral Beacon (duh), and Spirit Whisperer, or Spirit Bane. Those obviously have some effect on the aura. Other things should show up, but not in any specific manner. Things like Allergy, Addiction, and Code of Honor. While Baku should be able to read the presence of such things, the precise details should elude him unless he has studied the aura of someone he knows to have the specific quality. Some things should be visible, but completely vague. Things like Big Regret, Wanted, Dependent, and In Debt can all show signs of wear on the aura, but nothing specific should be discernible by Baku. Maybe something like “the target suffered a shock to their aura within the last year, or last five years, or a decade plus.” That kind of stuff. Finally, some things should just not be readable, at least directly. Things like Black Market Pipeline, Friends in High Places, Aptitude, or Exceptional Attribute just have no real basis (that I can imagine) showing up on an aura.
On the other hand, should you rather just hand over a list of qualities, I won’t complain. 😀For the IC post I made last, Baku will simply buy 2 hits on Assensing. This will make more sense after reading the post. I could get cheesy and claim that every few seconds or so he will buy two hits and that entitles him to another query by Astral Bouncer, but that is not who I am. I will however, request that at some point, one of those 2 hit “rolls” allows him to know her Mental Attributes. Should she become a regular in his life, he will eventually learn everything he can about her. But for now, her mind intrigues him most. :p

–Toss up. It is written as “toxins.” There is an argument to be made that anything that prevents the bodies natural function could be considered a toxin… In the end it isn’t terribly important. When she was in control, she had no issues with “finishing bareback,” if you’ll pardon the parlance. So Baku just followed her lead. -
LOL You caught me without her character sheet and I am not certain of some of her qualities. I can just summarize and caveat that with saying there may be an error or two. I also want to word it appropriately to how you laid out what you might see. I agree that there is a high “cheese” factor in that ability, so will try to make it realistic.

Oh, no rush. Well, unless there is something there that is life threatening to either character, or will impact Baku’s admiration of her in a severely negative way.
It is more that she fascinates him, and not as a test subject kind of way. He wants to get to know her, and is simply skipping the awkward talking part of it.

OK, I see what you mean. She does not have any negative qualities that would prove immediately dangerous to her or Baku.

Hey, on that assensing roll for the Astral Bouncer quality, those hits still have to be net hits, right? So if she defends against that roll, you get less information?
I suppose that if you do it often enough, you should get some net hits.
