LOL I have some actual work to do so it will be a couple of hours before I can get an IC post up in any of the threads.

That is kind of a GM call on that. The way Masking is worded, as long as some net hits are generated, the Assenser sees the real aura as well as the mask. It isn’t clear to if the Assenser completely blows through the mask, only gets to see what is “left over” from beating the masking, or if it is some weird blend of the two auras (I personally doubt this one).
I can see an argument for either of the first two. I’m inclined to go with the second one, because the first reduces the effectiveness of Masking (and I plan on taking it for Baku first thing 😉 ). This is one of those unfortunate areas of 5e that leave a reader scratching their head wondering what the intention was.

Just a little something, while “Love” is perfectly fine in English, and the translation indeed “Amour” in French, it’s not something you’d call anyone with. Feels really weird. In that situation, you’d probably use “Chérie” (darling). Of course, there’s the accent which might be a problem ^^

–Noted, and edited. Thank you. I don’t pretend to know French myself, and Google Translate doesn’t help as much as it should (because it lists the definitions that say it would be correct usage), so I will take the help where I can get it.

@Baku OK I will put the list of her qualities here and you judge what you would see. Based on what you posted as to what you might see with your Bounce ability, I am nor sure that you would see any of these, but you can help me judge.
Positive: Acrobatic Defender, Linguist, Friends in High Places (Gypsy Nobility), Honest Face, Innocuous
Negative: Fear of Spiders, Vendetta, Uneducated, Lightweight

You are right. By my ruling nearly everything you listed would not be able to be sensed with Astral Bouncer.
The only things that even show up are her Fear (of spiders) and Vendetta (as a general “flaw” in her aura). And those wouldn’t be clear to Baku, unless he new first hand how a phobia of spiders, or her vendetta against her specific target, looks on an aura – or he happened to be Assensing her prior to, and during, the arrival of them.
For example, should he be reading her aura for a bit, then a spider showed up and she panicked, he would know that phobia was against spiders (but he could do that without Assensing. :p ). But after wards, he could have knowledge of what a fear of spiders might look like without the presence of spiders if he sees it on someones elses aura.
On a different note, I now see a hole in Astral Bouncer. By my understanding of the quality, it should be able to reveal to Baku that she is quite bold, and… … let us call it sensual, since “lustful” tends to bring negative baggage along with it.
But otherwise, her aura is rather clean. Quite a rarity in the shadows, I would say. That explains much of Baku’s facination with her.

Mercy, I don’t presume to know where the cab ride is going, but for reference Baku is pretty much spent. Even his companion won’t be able to rouse him again for a while. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if you assign stun damage to him. 😉 Even if you don’t, I’m going to assume a -1 Condition Modifier to rolls until he gets time to rest and recuperate – possibly before arriving in Marseilles.
Also, thank you. Very much. I was just going along for the ride, so to speak, and I just realized you opened the door for Baku’s first Initiation ritual. I’ve been trying to figure out an appropriate combination of Tradition, character personality, and intended Art. Now I have seen the path. By studying auras, in particular his own, and how they alter and react to outside stimulus it will allow him to discover ways to alter them deliberately.Now to get enough game time to do it. (I’m not trying to rush the game, just lamenting the time requirement.)

LOL I think that that even she is pretty worn out at this point and that sex is probably not on her mind right now.
I am not sure that stun damage is appropriate, but you are pretty exhausted, so maybe that is pretty much the same thing. I appreciate the willingness to pay the penalty until you get some rest.
I truly believe that the thanks should go to you as much as to me. The collaborative nature of what we do is what gave you the idea and the opportunity. Consider what might have been the scene in most normal SR scenarios: Baku gets the call from the Johnson and accepts the run. He dresses and leaves the hotel for the airport, gets on a plane and flies to the destination city. Dull, blah, and boooooring. In the way we did it, you were exposed to several stimuli and latched onto one. Before you did, the prostitute was just a cardboard cutout, a person with the potential to be someone. Now you and I have breathed some life into her and given her a purpose and some character. She may never be more than that in this thread, but who knows. The beauty of it is that we made something from nothing and gave your character a chance to explore himself a bit and to allow you to develop his character a bit more. Ta Da.

Just a note, Baku will come to the realization that his idea of bringing her along has complications before the cab ride ends. Right now he is just lost in the moment. So please don’t end the ride until I can make a post about that.
Oh, and the line about his clothes. Baku is not prissy, nor OCD, nor overly fussy. But I needed a way to start bringing in the influence his Tradition has. Qabbalism is similar to Hermeticism, so I am taking it to mean it has caused him to enjoy a little order in his life. And this woman does everything but bring order to his life. There should be some mild interplay with that in the future, but as of right now should Baku have to chose between a little order, and spending time with this woman (we really need to get to introductions at some point… But Baku is in no hurry) – the order will lose.

There’s a problem in the timing: In the JD thread, the call is placed at ~5am, whereas it’s received at ~1am in MM. Even if we were taking different time zones in consideration, it would be later in MM than in JD.

Oooooooop. Crap. You are right. I have no idea why I was going backwards in time instead of forward. Does anyone have any trouble jumping the times forward several hours?

For now we’re still on the Paris time zone on the JD thread, so it wouldn’t change that much for MM to go from 1am to 5am. It still would be in the night after all.

OK. I can wave a GM magic wand and say the time in MM is about 0900 with the plane leaving at 1100. Time in JD is still about 0500.

–It is only a tiny issue right now. Some minor timestamp alterations – it looks like we are adding about 7 hours. It actually helps out my side of the story, as the airport shops will actually be open. 😀 It does put a tiny hitch in the opening post, that I don’t feel like editing out, so we will just assume Baku was sleeping in. If it becomes important, we can figure out a reason. In the meantime, we can just go with he had a good night out (he doesn’t drink much, so he wouldn’t be hung over at most points in time).EDITed to add:

I was leafing through the Core book, trying to get an idea of what gear to buy Iliena, and it occurred to me that it might make things go more smoothly to address some logistical topics before she and Baku arrive at the airport.-Has Baku ever been to Orly Airport before? I will tell you, I am biased by my experience with American airports. From my very limited understanding, European airport security is a sight less anal, and surprisingly more effective than American security.Now for payment. I am assuming most inexpensive and temporary things fall under lifestyle (if the lifestyle is high enough). Such as cab fare, basic food purchases, that kind of stuff. Anything that produces something tangible to be used later is bought separate. For example, should Baku pick up a magazine at the airport, that would have to be paid for from the character sheet, but should he treat Iliena to a modest meal that would come from lifestyle.
If I should make an IC post about purchasing something, and don’t mention it OOC, I assume it is under lifestyle. Whenever I am wrong about this, let me know. I have no issue paying for things when needed.Lastly, what kind of gear can I expect to find at the Airport? Again, from American airport knowledge, I would say clothing is not very stylish, and not high quality at all. And stuff like armor won’t be readily available (I’m thinking a Lined Coat here, maybe one of the less expensive Fashion Armor sets). Either way, I expect there to be a markup of some sort. Unless European airports have less capitalistic vendors.

You got to Paris somehow, so if you want to say you were at Orly before then you have.
Remember that you are going to private gate number 2 and so will not be going to the main terminal. You have most definitely NOT been to this gate, but you can assume that there will be little to no shopping amenities available. You also have no idea what the security measures will be.
Paying for small and inexpensive things can get into a large accounting issue and I think we can avoid that. Just do not take serious advantage of the system and you should be OK. You can keep track of expenditures like the magazine but I really do not think it is necessary.
Again, the equipment you might expect to find at the main airport terminal is going to be far different than what you will find at your gate. If you are going shopping, you might want to stop at a store enroute to the airport or go to the main terminal first then go to gate 2. You should have enough time to do either. You can also shop in Marseilles.

Then it is good that I asked about the airport.
It is probably that I am not important enough to ever get to use private gates. But I am fairly sure you can’t get to any gate in airports around here without going through the main terminal. This is so they can funnel everybody through that less than effective security I mentioned. So I had it envisioned all wrong.
My IC post is not a typo, or me misremembering. Baku transferred an extra 50 to Iliena. He felt she earned it, even before she started balancing him out. 😀
As for the shopping, it isn’t critical. I figured most of the shopping would happen in Marseilles. It was more of a “this is the crap we have to select from, lets at least try to make it functional and get you some protection while we are at it (defaulting to a synthleather long coat if necessary).” And to ensure Iliena had at least one change of clothes. Baku may need to make up the “Dry Clean” spell at some point if these interludes are common place between Iliena and Baku.
And the accounting isn’t too rough on my end. I am using Chummer to track my character, and it has fairly good bookkeeping for that stuff. My only complaint is it lumps all the money together. I have to manually track which “account” gets taken from, and which gets added to. But with it tracking totals, it isn’t bad at all.

In this case you will bypass the main terminal entirely to get to the private gate. In fact, you cannot get to that gate from the main terminal. You can RP your lack of knowledge of that by getting out at the main terminal only to find that you need to get one of the cabs there to get you to the proper gate. Feel free to RP up to the gate if you like, but stop when you get there.
The security at the gate is three men, all armed with SMGs on shoulder straps. All appear to be alert and one will come forward for identifying documents while the others cover his approach.

Just to give you a heads up, I will be Assensing the gate and terminal area, mostly focusing on magical security. Spirits Assensing passengers, wards, that kind of stuff. Also, we will be arriving about 2 hours early. I don’t know if that changes the setup at all. I had originally planned on Baku getting himself situated, and getting some work on the case done. But now I am just winging it all. 😛
And I take it this is your permission (if not nudge / kick in the pants) to end the cab ride, and move us to the gate? 😛 If so, then I will post sometime early / mid day tomorrow. It won’t make sense to do the quick follow up I thought of doing tonight, and I’ll just roll that into the longer post tomorrow.

LOL It is most definitely NOT a nudge to end the cab ride. If you have something else to do in the cab, please do it. This is not about keeping to any time schedule, but in having creative fun.
