It is odd, that’s why I asked, when we’re around a table there is a lot of chatter that grease the things along that can’t really happen here. Don’t want characters and players pissed at me for the wrong reasons

Are we all going or are we splitting up to get both jobs done fast?

My wife says I need to stop pretending in a detective

    I told her I didn’t understand

She said we should split up.

I agree we can cover more ground that way ?????

Splitting up would confuse me so much! But do what you must.

Not that it matters a lot, but the snow bank sculptures are a bit like these:

If you could imagine that instead of being done by one person for the first time they were done by teams who had been competing to do the coolest ones for a couple of decades. A lot more elaborate and decorated, but still fundamentally transitory art and limited by the properties of packed snow.

So just to be clear so I don’t go crazy, seems like we are sort of posting two parallel timelines – one still talking with Kevin, and one outside sort of planning debating?

Not sure how it got split that way, and I have no problem with it, just want to see if I’m seeing it the way the rest of us are.

And Beta – a lot of great story hooks here, man! Excited about this game!

Yes, some posts moved conversation outside, but Batshit raised a question that I thought deserved an answer — and by the time I was done writing it, more posts had gone up. I should have written in some words about this being a few minutes in the past compared to the current conversation, but I wasn’t that clever.

    ETA:

    – have now changed that post about the nephew into past tense.

    – something I had not pointed out is that most of the land around the area is a mix of bare granite hill tops and fairly dense bush (mostly mixed deciduous and evergreens with low lying bushes in many places, that make walking in a straight line a challenge. Something like this view: https://www.google.com/maps/@46.3332079,-81.3350916,3a,75y,180h,90t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sNKlH02K–GshDM-YNbDYwA!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo0.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DNKlH02K–GshDM-YNbDYwA%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D220.9152%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192 . There are scattered farms where there are pockets of better soil. The rumored toxic zone is in ‘the bush’ so sight lines mostly under 100meters, except that dead zone sounds like it should be a lot clearer).

    – Kevin has dumped most of the data that you all might need (I mean, he’s lived around this area for 100 years and probably does know things that would be useful, but neither you nor he know which of all those memories might matter …). So from an game management flow point of view I’m happy to let you all head off to do whatever. I’ll be reacting to your moves for the moment

@Gilga: just to make sure I understand, you are hacking the house in town? If so you’ll need to allow for some noise (you are a bit over 30km away). Or are you talking about the workshop out this way (about 1km away).

She is not hacking anything just yet, just observing the matrix carefully and methodically map all the icons the workshop has. She’ll do the same to the house when it becomes more relevant for us ( e.g. if we find evidence that the workshop is empty), as for noise she has 4 noise cancelation, and a satellite link (which should limit noise from distance 5, right?). In any case, just let me know the modifier and she would matrix perception the townhouse as well.

As for actually hacking stuff, it depends on risk assessment and the sophistication/level of security of the place. Rebbeca would not risk exposing us and would disclose the decision with the team.

@electric_muppet a note on time: it is Saturday morning, storm is supposed to come in Sunday night. So you have ~36 hours.

And while being out in a snowstorm has its dangers, this is an area that lives with winters. Major roads will be kept passable by plows throughout. Granted that dirt tracks in the forest will fill up quickly, and travelling by foot gets heavy even with skis or snowshoes (and extremely slow and exhausting without). But you have GPS on your links.

Basically I haven’t checked the characters’ survival skill ratings, but the storm is not intended as a boss fight timer (complete it before then or die!), just as another possibly complication. My actual expectation is that Al will turn out to have so many piloting dice and so many mods on his vehicles that it won’t be a big deal (but at least he might need to actually need those skills and mods).

Well, the last time I did any work on my rides was for Jack’s Texas job.

    Still, not really a problem.

*Any modern vehicle will keep people alive in a common blizzard as long as the engine doesn’t give out.

    * But the Gov has Life Support 2, so we could go to the bottom of a frigid lake and be fine. But it’s a street ride – a few penalties for off-road.

    * The Gaz is an off-road truck with enough seating for all of us in the extended cab. However, it is currently modded for Desert conditions.

    * But…in a town like this where cold weather mod components will be readily available, all Al has to do is rent some space in a Shop (not a Facility) and for a lousy 2K in parts he can extreme-cold modify in a mere two hours’ work (and I do have sufficient mod slots remaining). Thought about just having him do that before I left my Shop in Seattle, but wanted to RP the rushed drive.

Anyway, Al could pilot anything with an engine and wheels through whatever environmental mods you might care to throw at him.

Fyi, Kynos also left already, which is why he was speaking over commlink.

His ride is a cheap off-road vehicle – with amenities. His environmental adapted FBA will also be able to bring him safely through a blizzard.

Does anyone get notifications when someone replies to their post.

My bad, I’d read your post on my phone then forgot that I owed you that by the time I was on a computer.

I’ll get that up before going into any more detail on the house in town.

Yikes – does my “reply in progress” disappear if I go to Orokos?

I was just saying (previously with greater explanation) that i have 17 dice.

And my roll for the first hour is Showing off: 17d6t5 6

Whoa – it survived this time

    Anyway, bad roll

    Showing off again: 16d6t5 4

    So Edge

    paying Edge because I am a showoff: 12d6t5 5

And I finish well under the two hours.

    Gaz all extreme cold modded.

I’ll hit my sheet for the cash and Edge.

Just as a reminder, house in town is at 1359 Drummond Ave

    https://www.google.com/maps/place/1359+Drummond+Ave,+Sudbury,+ON+P3A+4Y9/@46.5270714,-80.9745785,183m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x4d2faa407e331ef9:0x7ef458c02def665e!8m2!3d46.5269562!4d-80.974347

Assume that the new house looks like what is there on google maps. It is definitely a nicer part of town, most of the houses you have seen are nearly as big.
