Becky replies “I think that Mr. Love offered the better solution, less paperwork

We will need to pay someone to take us in his boat. As for my car, I wouldn’t go twelve miles from shore with it if this is what you mean, but it is far safer than any inflatable lifeboat. It will remain floating I am certain of that and as I use the same engine for both propulsion systems. Nautical system is as safe as most boats of its size. It is a bit clumsy due to the less than ideal shape for water travel so do not expect high speed pursuit and fuel efficiency is an issue for longer travel, but we can cover 12 miles unless there is a wicked storm or something. ”

Love, how big can you hook us up? Anything that can contain a car?

I got the skipper for that… yeah – but it has to be a fishing ship as these have cranes and some can store a car in the fish tank.

Alternatively, you could buy a car in SF use it and ditch it there and still be able to jump ship near Seattle with small short range inflatable boats. J-Love suggested.

Becky said “First, it is clear to me that we need our dedicated ride. A container ship may get us there, but we want to perform the extraction and move out. So I am thinking backwards.

    1. We got the girl – good for us what do we need?
We need a ground craft capable of taking us all and the girl out of harm’s way. This is going to be my car, modified with a day or two at the garage.

    2. Can we go back by ground while ‘hot’ ? Hell no. We may be able to do so now, but once our pictures are all over the news ground travel will be dangerous. So we are going by sea, while I believe Macey that she can go undetected with a chopper we need a dedicated ride and we cannot buy a chopper with our funds. That is we return by sea and ol’Al is going to teach me and whoever else is interested how to handle ships just in case – that something will happen to ol’Al. So second option is sea travel and we are buying a ship in a few hours, from our advance the ship is going to be dedicated for us and ready to use. We will also use my car as a lifeboat so that we have backup.

    3. We go back exactly how we go in, that way we already know the route and got some dry practice. If our plan is unreasonable we will learn it on the way to the job, not on the way back, less years in prison that way.

So our plan is like this:
1.. We modify the car here in Seattle but purchase a ship in Vancouver, it is going to be a legal SSD ship.
    2. We meet the ship with the car and then places the car on tow, or on the ship depending how big we can buy.
    3. We use international waters to get to Calfree. Where we legally dock the ship. All illegal gear as well as our troll and more less presentable members of the ship enter the city by car.
    4. We meet in a cheap hotel room in SF and plan the extraction. The way out will be exactly the same, we undock the ship legally – meet it with the car at the ocean and go back slowly but safely. The car drops at Seattle and the ship at Vancouver. ”

J-love added “If that is your plan, you might want to use a tunnel out of Redmond and enter the water in the Salish side, less border crossings that way. I can hook you up. Second, I can also hook you up with a ship owner at Vancouver that would happy to make SF his vacation location providing you pay enough and are gone by beach. It is safer than actually buying the ship as it leaves less digital trails. Ofcourse, it goes without saying that you pay the skipper and the tunnel guy with credstick money rather than bank accounts… ”

J-Love said “I do not use air routes as they are too well regulated. I can do cargo freighter or a yacht if you prefer. This is for sea route, for land crossing into Salish lands is piece of cake, we have tunnels for that. Definitely avoid Tir, you’ll need to cross a natural barrier to get to Ute lands – the Colorado river. Beside being breathtaking you’ll either have to make your car fly or have reasonably good SINs. They don’t inspect you too deeply, but if you are caught in random inspection than most SIN’s burn… and some of you look like good candidates for randomness – no offense guys. Calfi is a mess of a country, so should be easy to enter. ”

Becky looks at Willis and Forty and grins “There are five blades and a crossbow that I casually wear. ” (The only obvious one is the Katana to right side.) There are also crossbows, the little one is with me and I left the big one at the car. Oh and there is the car and clothes, disguise kit that I brought to disguise the girl and ourselves and some chocolate flavored soy snacks for the road as well as camping gear and plenty of food and water. That I always has in the car. Though I sleep mostly in cabins rather in the outdoors. I actually never opened the tent.”

Perhaps you want to RP J-love? I mean having him suggesting a travel method is a good way to keep us on track.

Becky said: “For once, we need a car at San Fransisco – and it better be an off roader and amphibious. We cannot perform the job without a ride and that ride needs to accommodate all of us. Therefore, we want a solution that allows us to bring the car and we need time to modify it.”

To Forty she said “It is not about what we bring in, it is about what we are going to do and not leaving a digital trail”

She then paused and asked “How difficult is the land route? We can just drive around the Tir and Nan nations are a mess aren’t there? How well is the border between Salish and Ute guarded? Can’t we just cross it with an amphibious car? A ship is comfortable but is also vulnerable, we cannot run and we cannot hide. If we take a large container ship perhaps we can just drop in the ocean when close enough to make the trip.”

I think that we do not want a record of ‘US’ being in the place of the crime. So I’ll smuggle in even the legal equipment to avoid the paper trail.

Becky said to Al “J-Love ? He is into sailing as a hobby. It is his job though I bet he can hook us up. I also have some acquaintances with an affection for money and fancy yachts that may want to do side trip if the pay is right and we are gone before custom controls. So it seems like we are going to need a small boat anyhow, perhaps the cheapest is to modify my car for some additional seats. Though, like you say we might just buy a proper ship that can make it to shore before authorities will intercept a ship. The benefit of modifying the car is that we do not need to figure out where to ditch it once we arrive to shore, we just keep going… So no loose strings that are left behind. ”

To Macey she said “I got just the man for you and I can drive you there once we are done here…
His place is called the Supermarket which is a bazar of all sort of merchandise that found its way there one way or the other. What is interesting for you, is that these guys own plenty of postal boxes across town and anything that you can’t find in the supermarket can be ordered to one of these postal boxes. They use street urchins to make deliveries and these are talented in avoiding the law.”

Shortly later a middle aged human with short pants and slippers entered the basement through the troll elevator. Becky stood up and greeted him “J-Love, thanks you for coming at such a short notice”

The older looking man hugged Becky, perhaps for a bit too long and perhaps he enjoyed the physical proximity more then he should have, but he remained within acceptable behavior. He smiled at her and said “well I had to see it for my own eyes, this is the first time you are looking to buy my own services rather than sell yours. Finally got that gig you wanted heh?”

“Guilty as charged” she said with a grin. “Though you might find Al more useful than myself. He seems to know a thing or two about sailing. We need to get to San Francisco without passing border control and I without having the gear being inspected. I can only imagine what these gentlemen might want to bring with them. ” She said.

J-Love took a chair flipped it and took a sit – “So guys, there is the land route and the sea route and I personally only deal in getting people in and out of Seattle. I can hook you up with someone in San Francisco, the question is what are you looking for.”

His eyes wandered to quickly survey the party, he gave little attention to the dog, and perhaps a bit too much attention to Forty. Without waiting for a reply he noted something in an old school paper notebook. For a man in his forties, J-love seemed well preserved and while he went straight to buissness there was nothing businessy about his dress-code or behavior.

Becky said “I would not trust magic alone to carry me all the way to SF, nor would I trust a car for such a long ride over the ocean. It may serve us to discreetly cover several miles from a larger cargo ship to the beach. For example, if the coyote can set us up to hitchhike with a container ship or something like that. We can drive for several miles to find the beach given GPS mapping and everything. Similarly, perhaps we can use the car to meet such ship in the ocean.

Would be difficult to get the car on top of a ship though. I am uncertain about buying a ship to make the trip because we still need to enter the international water of Tir – or can we go deep enough to the ocean so that it is no problem? ” M

Becky said “Sure thing, there is the Chicken flavored space noodles that seem fitting to your description and we can order the OJ flavored juice.
I am sorry for no flesh and blood waitresses, but I asked for privacy.” She said.

A bit later she said “Torrent is not coming today, we need to get to San Fransisco, so we are meeting with a connection of mine. People call him J-Love, but he seldom tells the whole story as of why. Anyhow, J-Love is an expert in getting people out of Seattle so I was hoping that he could help us find a reasonable way to San Fransisco. ”

She paused and said let’s start with logistics”I have a modified off-roader that can go either on the ground or on the water and has four seats. Anyone else has transportation?”

Becky listens to Willis and then To Macey and then she sighs in relief when Forty cut this nonsense short. says “Willis, seriously now, you cannot just bring people to this job. What happened here was highly unorthodox… and no I could not see you outside I was right here in the basement. ” To macey she said with half a grin “You guys have bigger problems than my approval or lack of. Just behave yourself when meeting the Coyote and stop flashing your credsticks trying to prove a point, the locals are known to be good thieves present company included.”

Then she says “We better start eating… I am starving” with a few hand gestures she browsed the AR menu and ordered the children dish ‘a small burger, chips and a diet coke. (or its 2071 equivalent). Becky clearly did not eat much.

“So Bozo’s are not nice and calling me a prostitute is acceptable?” She sighed, “My day keeps getting better and better, but let me start with Willis who is a member of this team and a grown up man that does not need anyone to speak up for him.” She looked at Willies and said “Yes, I am a bitch get over it. You do not have to like me but you have to respect me. This joint is managed by my contact and you nearly got into a gunfight right in front of it after *I BROUGHT YOU HERE*, my relationship with you endangers my relationships with the people I work with and this is not a very nice way to behave.

So someone made a racist comment, Boo hoo… People are assholes, this is Redmond if you haven’t noticed. You cannot be offended by what people say. Growing up here I was called many insulting names every single day. You should be less sensitive about things if you want to make it. Since this morning, you managed to get involved in a gunfight, be late for a meeting and endanger my relationship with Olivia the owner of this place. You earned an unpleasant word Willis. To be honest, most people would get more than a word out of me for behaving like that”.

She looked at Macey with frozen expression “Babe, you are some fucked up piece of work. I call you a bozo and you escalate like that. My social skills are fine the way they are. It is yours that have problems, you are here because Willis wanted to include you in this group after he picked you up in the streets and to make things worse he only knows you for like one hour. Within a few hours you moved from someone *This* close to actually spreading your legs to paying sweaty men while your mind is trapped in some BTL chip, to a free person that is being offered a paying job….” She pauses and then concluded
” I for once would have been more polite about it.”

Letting it sink, Becky continued. “First thing first, you had me at fast response team, but you cannot do this gig for free. We are looking for commitment not for hitchhikers. The fair thing is that you and Willis share a portion of the very lucrative payment that my good looks scored us for this gig. For Willis this is probably more money then he has ever seen and for you this is an opportunity to stand on your own two feet without being dependent on the man that saved you. Trust me on this one, you want to have your own money and I bet that you do not have much more than these sacks you call clothes. So don’t pretend like you do not need the money.
However, being a paid member of this team means that you are committed to us all. You do not just follow Willis until your Blood debt is repaid. You stick with this gig until we get paid and go our separate ways.”

She looked at Willis and Macey and asked “Are these terms acceptable?”

Becky said “They were afraid 10 of them? Gee I wonder why 10 gangers avoid fighting two bozzo’s when violence is the only thing they know how to do. – perhaps because they identified you as the same bozos that wiped out a slaver run recently? This is 2071 not 1871 – there are social networks and everybody talk, even gangers. Word travel fast especially when something unusual happens. Also, everybody in Redmond are looking for some way to make money. I bet there is a nice bounty on your heads right now, so stop being so naive before you and all your loved ones are killed.”

She took some air and then said “Look, this is the deal – Willis has a spot in an extraction job in San Francisco. It pays 30k . 5k up front and 25k to whomever survives the successful completion of the run. Yes this means that the Johnson pays less if bunch of us die but the mission is successful. It seems like you two need money and more than that that you need to get out of Redmond asap, before you become too famous. So I bet that having understood the gravity of your situation you two want the job if only to get out of Redmond.

My question is Macey, Can you convince me that you are worth the trouble? Because getting your skinny ass enslaved does not raise much trust. The sympathy card may work on Willis but to get me on board you need to convince me that you have the skills to contribute to this group. So putting it bluntly, what can you do?”

Becky texts >> Too big to pass? There is the cargo elevator which is definitely big enough. There are many trolls that enjoy the dance floor of ‘hell’ and some get paid to dress up like Daemons (how stereotypic but people likes it). My point is, they get in through the fragging elevator. Next time, just let me know if you have a problem.

Besides, I am not up to date in gang politics but there is at least one and usually more gangs for every garbage heap in Redmond. You do not want to just seat outside like easy pickings. We want to keep low profile rather than start wars. So let’s keep it simple, if you want work join us in the basement and stop this nonsense.

To herself she said “Ghost! They did not even ask the waitresses for a solution to their problem. their solution was to chill out in the middle of the fucking street like victims. They are just waiting to be harassed… I can imagine how Macy turned out slave – but she should know better the second time. Uffff…. ” She shrugged and then said “Yoga breathing… No room for swordplay here.”
Beckie attempted to relax with breathing exercises, and when that didn’t work she thought frustratingly “… and I can’t even order a decent shot because then Al will be wasted by the time the Coyote arrives. I am a fragging babysitter.”

Becky placed her hands on he forehead and mumbled “They just chill out in the street not to ‘disturb’ people…”

Shrugging, she excused herself and went to the toilets where she made sure that the haircut and makeup were perfect. Mainly she just wanted to blow off some steam privately. Looking at the mirror was Becky’s way to interact with her totem. An impossible Seal with dreamy blue eyes – that said absolutely nothing. “How does a girl stupid enough to become a slave is going to help that thick troll?! ”

“Yes I know… I also had some lows in my life… but they don’t even help themselves… they are like tweedle dee and tweedle dum doing their stupid nonsense… How do I separate them a bit.”

“Even my totem cannot be supportive of my emotions… I am a babysitter with a sword… and I owe over 100k nguyen because I awakened and am now even more. I must get it to work!”

She looked at her Katana and said.
“A lovely Katana… so pretty… like a jewel… an arrogant magic sword – with the same bitchy qualities that I share. How come I am unworthy of attuning you. You are a sword dammit – I am an adept and you were crafted especially for me. Why are you shutting me out?”

“Great I am talking to the sword, ahm Katana… Yes I am sorry honey, I know that it was disrespectful. You will open up to me at your own pace. ”

Shortly after Becky picks herself together and returned to the table.

Becky thinks “It goes against reason, but Seal says that she is cool as well.” and then she said “Alright lets invite her in and see what she brings to the table. ” With that in mind she texted Willis >> Still there Willis? Why don’t you and Macy join us?

“I guess it is not the right time to mention that this is the first time I am doing this shit and the most responsibility I had was managing a household.” She thought.

Becky seemed a bit embarrassed when Forty begun singing but she kept that emotion to herself. Suppressing emotions was something she became skilled at as a suburban housewife – concubine. Then Khili barked and Becky said: “Alright, I will call the shots”

She said to Khili “It would be unprofessional to ask Torrent to amend the deal after he agreed to pay us so handsomely so that is off the table, but I am willing to offer you one of my five credsticks providing we both survive. So you even get something off the loot.”

Then came a thought “Darn it… when did I become so generous”. Though, it was not really generosity – more of a calculated risk. If Becky pulls of a successful run as the team’s leader than there were going to be more paying jobs. If she or the dog dies then none of this mattered anyhow.

She looked at the interplay between Forty and Al but resisted the urge to come between the two or take sides figuring that she could only make things worse. Al torched himself yesterday and Forty sat in prison for torching policemen. It was too dangerous to mediate between these two.

Then she told Al “Since I am calling the shots, I’ll be the one deciding about Macy. Though, I value your opinion on the matter. Do you have an opinion of your own Forty?”

It takes a certain level of OOC connection to the player to be total bitch to their characters. (and even then it does not always go well – I think that I scared off one player from Date Night game by being too aggressive toward his character). Anyhow, I tried to come up with a logical explanation about why us – lets see how your characters would take it.

Becky looked at Forty and said “Well, it is not unreasonable to believe that Torrent’s client only wants to appear as trying to make the extraction and is comfortable with the possibility of failure. After all, he picked desperate runners – no offense intended. In a freaking bar, and told us the details in a public place. We are so dysfunctional that we could not even nod and wait for the meetup to end. Al torched himself and we kept mentioning a talking dog… We did not exactly make the best impression . Yet, after all these fuckups we still got paid handsomely, where clearly such money could buy more successful criminals, again no offense intended. ”

She sighed and then added “Still, we got a paying gig and we cannot afford to fuckup anymore. There is distance between hiring the worst possible runners for the job and actually crossing them. I believe that Torrent would not cross us because word will spread and his reputation would suffer. I had a contact check him out – and he is quite established in this gig – the real deal. What I am trying to say is that if we pull our shit together and succeed in this mission we are likely to be paid the full amount. However, let’s try to base this run on our own contacts rather than Torrent’s . This is why we meet now with my own Coyote contact rather than the one offered to us, there is more than a single tunnel out of Redmond and a good coyote could recommend the best way to get all the way to San Francisco. Rather than just cross a single border. ”

Then she looked at Al and said “I always assumed that Khili was your talking dog Al, Torrent did not include him as a ‘runner’ in his list. Now what was that thing about turning people into dogs? Is that even possible? “
