Ack, just found the errata to SG that removes Commanding Voice and inserts Authoritative Tone. Now the character making excel sheet makes sense…. although there is a new Commanding Voice in Stolen Souls, apparently. Does anyone have that book, could tell me if there is more detail to it than “5 word command Cha+Leadership vs. will + int”
ETA: took Commanding Voice just based on the summary. General revision done to move away from melee abilities. Now still need to take the spreadsheet and translate it to OP. Will try to do that tomorrow finally. But going to get a real quick IC up (will leave those background posts on Dumpshock (and have some more to write there as well). I think they’d make the sequencing here odd.
-
It allows you to excert a minor form of mind control and give a brief command that your target is compelled to follow.
Here is what is wrriten in Stolen souls. This power channels the adept’s magic into his voice
to enhance the modulation and pitch, subliminally influencing the actions of any listeners. The adept takes a
Complex Action to give a simple but forceful command
(five words or less) to the target, making an Opposed
Test with Leadership + Charisma against the target(s)
Willpower + Intuition. If the adept succeeds in the test,
the target uses his next action to either carry out the
command or stands confused (gamemaster’s choice,
but the more net hits achieved the more likely it is for the
target to obey the adept’s command). Such commands
carry no weight beyond the immediate impetus, and
the affected characters will quickly reassert their wits,
returning to their original course of action. If multiple individuals are targeted, use the largest dice pool among
the defenders and add 1 die per additional target (to a
maximum of six individuals). Commanding Voice may
only be used on metahumans who can directly hear and
understand the adept’s words. It has no effect when the
voice is amplified or broadcast via technological means
(e.g., wireless transmission or loudspeaker). It is also less
effective on subsequent uses against the same target.
Apply a cumulative –2 dice pool penalty for each use
within the preceding 24 hours. -
Thanks Obi — I’d never hit upon that SR wiki, it looks like a fantastic resource! I have most of the books, but not quite all so it is great to finally have a source for those last few bits 🙂
-
It’s missing a few if the latest books but nevertheless a great resource.
-
Character sheet and bio are now complete on OP. Could use some formatting work in parts of the character sheet, and I’ll keep putting up IC posts on Dumpshock with hopefully more interesting looks at her history, but all the basic info should be there.
ETA: actually that isn’t quite right, right after posting I realized I forgot to put the contacts in. They’ll go up later today.

Just a note that I hadn’t intended Al to actually approach Becky. He’s just talking to himself from over in his corner.
So now that Her Legginess had woken him up, he sipped his beer in the shadows and watched as the tusker in the fancy duds and jackass harness made his play for him. Unseen by anyone but the everpresent ghosts of good Chinamen, Al tipped his glass at the guy. “May yer night be long, sweaty, an’ clap-free, buddy,” he muttered under his breath as his eyelids grew heavy again.
Not a big deal, and I don’t mind how you’ve played it.
Only writing this note so you don’t think I intended Al and Becky to get off on the wrong foot….though I’m sure there’ll be plenty of time for that later…!
-
Oh sorry, for miss reading it, I can edit if you like, I was confused by the phrase Al tipped his glass at the guy (but I am not native speaker so it happens sometimes.) I could edit if you prefer.
Oh and no hard feelings about the two getting in the wrong foot it is not like drunken Al could make a good first impression one way or the other.
(Should I edit the post? I really don’t mind).

Section 1: character notes:
In my final building I re-jigged priorities to magic A, which gave alchemy at five …. at which point I decided to go all the way and raise it to six, then buy the magic quality ‘practiced alchemist’ which doubles preparation duration (and once initiated gets preparations to gain extra dice when used). Paid for by giving up another spell slot (along with two spells given up for the chosen follower (might not have that name right) one mentioned earlier).I will be sitting down with Run Faster later today or tomorrow to add some minor gear items (pens, bags, etc)
Section 2: OOC for the IC post about Forty making a couple of logic preparations.
Forty gets working on two force 3 enhance logic preparations.
First:
logic prep 1 (limit 3): 12d6t5 2
prep 1 resist: 3d6t5 2
prep 1 drain resist (vs 2): 12d6t5 2Second:
logic prep 2 (limit 3): 12d6t5 5 limits to 3
prep 2 resist: 3d6t5 0
prep 2 drain resist (vs 2): 12d6t5 4I’ll edit the IC in a bit, to reflect that the first one didn’t take. 2nd one has potency 3, and is good is for 12 hours before dropping (3x2hours, x2 for practiced alchemist), goes off at six dice.

So I’ll make it some ‘other’ asshole in that club. I’ll edit later today – would not make much of a change to the post: it will be another ass:
saying something “Is that trog bothering you?” -
@Snowstorm: haven’t studied it in detail but spotted the SR4/SR5 problem, there aren’t any grids in 2071 so Transcend Grid can’t be a thing… @Jack_Spade is probably a better source of rules knowledge if he’s got time to scan your sheet?? I think the rest can stand as being comparable to an SR4 TM (ish)… the problems with monkeying with the timeline 🙂
-
It’s been a while since I looked into the SR4 rules, but yes, Transcendent Grid is probably unnecessary as well as Static Veil (no Grid Overwatch Division to worry about)
All in all you can play your Techno like a projecting mage. -
By the way, there are belts/bracelets that become swords and daggers, but they are availability 14 – is there a way to obtain these in this game? I totally see Becky using these rather than carrying a huge sword on her back.
-
@Aria: Thanks for the feedback. Never even struck me that grids didn’t exist at that point. Will update the character a bit
@Jack_Spade: Thanks for the feedback. Really useful to know -

If you have a half way suitable contact then 14 availability isn’t that hard to overcome!

@Snowstorm & @Beta: please assume Torrent comes over and asks you to join ‘the party’ …assuming you do he can make his introductions again and ‘get down to business’
