    Actually yes, it all looks pretty plausible – even if it relies quite a bit on nano-technology to get the job done.

    I won’t be able to post properly until tomorrow, but Preston will be mingling (and using all that investment in etiquette). Other players feel free to drag him into your scenes.

    Did Lily come in?

    Nope Lily is outside in the van watching AR feeds from you lot…! Sorry, meant to get an IC up to that effect ?

    Not near my books — what level of fake ID do you need to (hopefully) pass a gene check? I think one of the top levels included getting your genes on file, but I could be wrong?

    Although it is somewhat a moot point for Preston, I’d never gotten him an ID above rating 4, and I’m pretty sure that does not cover gene checks.

    (that is, if the gene sample is for ID check, as opposed to their own scan for genetic anomalies, but Jack certain suggested it goes with the ID check)

    That is correct. You need an R6 SIN or a real one or you are pretty much guaranteed to be found out to be fake.

    OOPS- got my aliases mixed up and told the reception girl Hezekiah Rafferty (used a long time ago in another game) instead of the one I have on my character sheet for the ID I plan to use – the correct name is Hezehiah Malachi – I’ve edited that post.

    It’s a Rating 6, only been used for day-to-day living in London, and not associated with any past runs/crimes. It’ll be linked to some very expensive sports cars in London, but has no associated weapons licenses. Lists Al as a CAS citizen, but has a UK visa on it.

    Urgh, I’d meant to buy another decent ID or two after Texas Hold’em, and forgot (I replaced his rating 1 IDs near the end of that game and talked about better ones, but never did anything about it.)

    So I guess Preston gave them the ID that he has been living under, when he came in. Major faux pas for a runner, but my mistake in not getting some decent back-ups. Although none of them would have exceeded four (I’ve been using a rule of thumb that anything with an availability higher than allowed at character generation probably needs some in game work to justify).

    So here’s the requested driving roll:
    Driving across St. Helens ash wastes: 15d6t5 3
    Nice.
    So here’s my first Edge of this run.
    reroll the drive: 12d6t5 4
    So seven hits, in case the extras count for anything (though limit is 6).

    @Jack_Spade
    So since you asked for that roll, does that mean you want to jump straight to our arrival in the vicinity of the camp?

    Do you want us to detail all the camping-in-the-ash-wastes gear we buy, or just say “we bought the necessary gear”? (with 13 dice in Survival, Al will know what was needed)
    Similarly, besides fluff, how detailed do you want to be about camping/surviving etc?

    Camping isn’t the focus of the game and the ash wastes are pretty lifeless, so one or two flavor posts from all of you should do 🙂

    @Gilga – great, yeah, teamwork on the driving, of course.
    Anything that saves me an Edge point!

    hot sim counters running silent. He can cover off I think 4 points of noise, if it is worse than that it will knock some dice off these rolls:
    their camp: matrix perception: 12d6t5 4
    Al & Lilly: matrix perception: 12d6t5 3
    ‘Mars’: matrix perception: 12d6t5 4

    Here’s the Sneak roll for a closer look:

    All within my Limit.

    @Jack_Spade

    Aeronautics Mechanic test to try to get a clue how that drone is staying afloat. Note that Al’s mind is open to the possibility of magic – he has no skill or ability there, but goodness knows he’s seen enough and been the targt of enough levitation that he might know it when he sees it….But I’m thinking something technically innovative is more likely…?

    Yepp. If anyone wants to learn more, take a look at Street Lethal p.60ff

    Would be a shame to have this edition ending without you lot encountering a bit of future tech (because I have a feeling that the next edition will do away with all that again)

    @Jack_Spade

    Cool.

    So the IC says Al has no idea. But OOC I just killed the test and in response you just told us the answer….so I guess Al is initially puzzled and then figures it out…?

    Okay – Aria’s idea of a data tap seems very good.

    But is anyone carrying one?

    No worries – a couple of ways to get around that.

    (A) Always wanted to use the device mod rules in Data Trails. Al’s got enough electronic on him that pacs are no problem. The rolls will be totally easy. But not sure Data Tap falls neatly into the categories described, and the Hardware Kit is in the truck (could handwave), and the required times are really long.

    (B) But with the trusty Juryrigger quality, I can make anything do anything (once), and the various requirements are all pretty flexible. Since I only need the tap to work once (i.e. not going to take it off and use it again anywhere else), should be no problem. I am carrying several spare low-rating “burner” commlinks – they really should have all the basic attributes of a data tap anyway.
    GM sets target, then subtracts one. So not thinking it will be very high.
    I’m going to roll and then get on with it – worst that can happen is that we find out it doesn’t work.

    Turn commlink into single-use data tap: 15d6t5 4

    And another Sneak test to plant the tap.
    Planting the tap in a most stealthy manner: 17d6t5 3
