    @Tecumseh: Preston has Baking as a professional skill. Combine it with Ichante’s knowledge, and if we can recover this thing by offering coffee and pastries, we are all set! (sadly, it had to be vampires … )

    I really like the voices, would have been so funny if they were real. Like matrix echos or something.

    I mean, he does have some nano-ware …. :p

    Spoiler:
    …. but I don’t think he has CFD, it is just how he stabilized his personality after dealing with PTSD, multiple addictions, and completing the quest that had become his reason for living.

    Monkey started off as the “Monkey on his back” — he gave his addictions their own voice so that he could recognize and resist it better.

    Coleman was his childhood matrix game name, a pure(?) utilitarian. After he’d hunted down the mind mage who killed Fisher (his mentor/partner/bad influence), he needed to split off the pure assassin that he’d become, again so he could better resist it.

    Gamma was the ‘third voice’ that he sometime heard observing internal states of affairs and evaluating what the other two were saying. It just seemed to appear on its own, and he eventually named it.

    Oleg was named for his uncle Oleg, who was a staunch traditionalist, defending a golden age that never existed. While getting off Jazz he had a phase where he complained about everything, and giving that side its own voice too also helped resist it.

    Eliza is comparatively new (came into being during Tangled Currents when I bought his Charisma up to 3), and like with Gamma, Preston just started hearing it, without working to bring it about. It seemed to come with its own name, which he finds more than a bit disturbing.

    All of the voices have evolved some over time (for Preston, and also how I represent them)

    And they were a little bit inspired by the novel “Aristoi” (more traditional sci-fi from Walter Jon Williams, who wrote “Hard Wired”, one of the formative cyber-punk novels)

    I’m probably now off-line until Sunday evening. Preston has a motel room and is willing for the team to go back there when they are done with the Johnson. He’ll make caff for those who want it.

    If we get that far by then he’ll teamwork disguise with Becky (11 dice) (or alternatively using forgery, also 11 dice, to make ‘official paperwork’ for Al). He has a disguise and forgery kits with him, so should avoid penalties. He’s also willing to play Al’s son or nephew or something, if we go with the suggested plan.

    Ichante is also very good at Disguise, either through the skill (12 dice) or Physical Mask. That said, how much disguise we actually need is debatable. It’s not like the morgue knows what the Doctor’s _____ (insert relative here) should look like. It might just be enough to make Al look less like himself, which is to say “more respectable”.

    Sounds like we could talk to the fixer too if we wanted. Maybe we can throw Becky at the fixer while Jazz works the Matrix research angle.

    We need a low level SIN, and Al need to match the picture. Something along these lines I’d say, forgery can help as well, forging inheritance documents or something.

    @Gilga
    I’m not quite following Becky’s question:

    โ€You seems like you can countโ€ฆ Can you please say how much money are we offered so that each of us can make up their mind if we bite or not?โ€

    I’m probably interpreting it wrong, but it sounds like, “How much money do we need to accept the job?” Which seems like a personal question that Ichante would not be in a good position to answer for strangers. Let me know where I went wrong.

    There is a guitar case filled with cred sticks the J has won playing cards. We get that up front, my characters doubts that the J knows exactly what he is offering… So she asked Ichante to actually count it, (we are going to split it afterwards).

    If I misread/misinterpert let me know, I sometimes do.

    @Gilga
    So Becky’s request is for Ichante to count the credsticks in the guitar case? Which, if we really want to know what’s on them, would require slotting them into a commlink one-by-one.

    I’ll defer to the GM’s opinion on this, but this seems rather rude to Ichante, to the point where she would likely decline. I’ll roll Etiquette though to see if I can get a sense:

    Charisma 3 (6) + Etiquette 5: 11d6t5 4 hits

    If it is rude, then Ichante probably won’t do it, largely because it was Becky who told her to. Stubborn dwarf, etc.

    @All
    I thought part of the posting karma/nuyen award was to gloss over negotiations. Is that the case for Aria’s game but not this one? Does this negotiation have a financial impact later, or is this IC exchange just for RP/fluff?

    No impact on rewards. Just feels strange to me to get a run without haggling on the price a little bit. Especially, as it has such a large impact on our lifestyles and so forth. (storywise) E.g. Becky is the biz to make good money.

    Well, Becky did not mean to be rude, but she acts super confident and full of herself (mainly to try and jack the price up a bit). We need to slot all of the credsticks, one way or the other so that we can split them fairly among us. She will do so herself if Ichante refuses – probably with a sigh or a shrug. What I am saying, feel free to take offense ๐Ÿ˜‰ it is good RP stuff one way or the other.

    If you need a social roll then:

    Neither gilga nor I are native English speakers, so I’m reluctant to make a judgement here. But if it was not meant as an insult body language and tone would IP convey that as well.

    Jack, I can’t comment on your spoken English but your written English is better than the vast majority of native English speakers. I always took you to be an expatriate living abroad.

    Gilga, you pass for a native speaker too.

    Thanks! Though to admit I often use a dictionary (when real native speakers show their vocabulary), and I edit my posts multiple time until I am happy with the language. The difficulty is not the language itself, but the culture. I find that the social norms, and perhaps a range of accepted behaviors in the USA (for example), are very different than in Israel. I had this point, where I just paused the game for a while and asked my friends on Skype if women really behave like this in the US. Because reading the IC post I had a difficulty to believe that a grown-up and socially functioning woman would behave so emotionally.

    There are also many sorts of social sensitivities, political correctness and their ilk that just do not exist that way in my culture. I can understand them with logic, but they don’t feel natural or intuitive to me. Basically, my observation is that it is much more difficult to offend Israeli than it is to offend Americans (and to a degree Italians as I lived there for a year and experienced some of it). The point is, things that may be obvious to someone may not be as obvious to others.

    Becky was read as very much rude by Mercy despite my intentions for things that I would never consider. E.g.asking someone for a favor, or not physically helping to deploy technical gear. Sometimes, things I write turn out completely different than my intentions. The first time in these few years when I actually tried to play rude and slightly offensive was with Nikolo. I imagined that having his mates laughing at him would defuse the tension. In my eyes, jumping a woman because you cannot think of something equally provocative to respond to her is a real dick move that would make Nikolo lose face. Especially if your friends act amused by the verbal sparring, it is an interest from a beautiful lady even if a negative one. I was actually trying to be funny – but in that case, I was aware that what I think is a likely turn of events may seem unlikely to the rest (and it did I think).

    With Ichante I really had no idea that she may take offense by counting our credsticks, given that some of my characters have sticky fingers, and would just take one or two to their pocket in such a situation. I saw it as a vote of confidence, trying to establish some trust rather than offend.

    My sister is the starting point for Ichante’s personality, to which I add in some elements of my wife. One thing I’ve noticed is that my wife works well with men but doesn’t work well with other women. Some of that is informing Ichante’s response to Becky.

    What’s hardest for me to write is the high-Intuition, low-Logic view of the world. For example, I did the math to figure out how much the obsidian orb would weigh, and was sorely tempted to share it, but that approach would never occur to Ichante, and even if it did she wouldn’t have a clue how to actually calculate it. Luckily Beta took care of it for me. (I came up with an estimate of 20kg, likely because obsidian has a range of possible densities and I chose a heavier one to take the conservative approach.)

    Sorry i didn’t get online last night, but in turns iut you were at a point where it was normal for Preston to be quiet.

    @Tecumseh : I was just playing a low logic hing intuition character, and it certainly is frustrating sometimes. It has its nice side in the character reasonably being spontaneous, but the holding back on things that you as aplayer would do or say can be so hard!

    Just modded character names on OP so that they have the prefix TH’em – just in case anyone wonders where they’ve gone ๐Ÿ˜›

    Sorry, like to try and organise PCs by thread otherwise I lose them ๐Ÿ˜€

    Al is obviously under the ‘All’ category, @Gilga: wasn’t sure if you have a BoS and a later version of Becky or if you are just overwriting the BoS version?? If so you’re welcome to change the Prefix to TH’em, or even All if you like…

    I placed both sheets in the same char one after the other. I’ll edit the prime Becky a bit. I never managed to RP the seal mentor well enough, I think she’ll be a follower of the horse (can’t stay in one place) and other mainly cosmetic changes). I’ll change to TH’em when I am done with her.

    @Tecumseh

    Haha, no, but thanks. I just happen to consume an inordinate amount of English language media
    But as gilga describes, there are still some cultural differences in etiquette in play.
    @gilga
    From a German perspective your speech was quite a bit heavy handed. Consider Nikolo to hold a grudge against Becky and the Johnson not being particularly impressed by your negotiation tactics…

    I have an OOC theory but there’s a risk of IC/OOC transference.

    To help mitigate the overlap, I’ll spend a point of karma on Aztechnology 1 as a street knowledge skill. Let’s see if that gets me anything:

    Intuition 6 + Aztechnology 1: 7d6t5 4 hits

    Since we’re in Texas, I’ll say yee-haw.

    I’ll lay down the theory ICly. If Jack thinks Ichante might know (or suspect) something else with 4 hits, please let me know.

    Well Becky thinks that Nikolo is so full of himself that he can’t take a generic insult… but as she intended to insult him it is okay if he don’t take it so well. As for the J – well – I tried my best ๐Ÿ˜‰
