@Jack_Spade Thanks for all of your help. I am not doing so well at this stuff right now.

I posted to the IC for both women. Alyce did not do any damage, but Sian did 8P. Did Shrike’s attack kill off the spirit before it breathed? If not, does Alyce’s gas mask for her armor help her?

So, if Sian did 8P to the spirit, would that reduce its actions by 2 for everything? Does that reduce the breath dice to “only” 15 instead of 17? In any case, if Shrike’s adrenaline lets him take his action before the spirit, the thing vanishes before breathing. Right?

    To answer your questions, Mercy:

Adrenaline Surge only works on the first Initiative Pass, so the spirit will get it’s breath attack.

(This means that Al will still have to use that Edge point I talked about with Aria to get my Internal Air working in time – such is the price for refusing to walk around in a full suit of sealed armor in a hot jungle! Silly Al!!!)

The Noxious Breath does come after your attack, so it is down to 15 dice on that attack.

If your armor sports a full Gas Mask (as opposed to a respirator), then you do have full immunity to the attack (Respirator just adds its rating).

Alternatively, if your armor has Chemical Seal, you are likewise fully immune to the thing’s attack.

And finally, yes, per Jack’s edited IC, the thing is toast.

(Now the question is whether the one Al nailed will come back two turns from now – but at least we can use those two turns to concentrate on salvaging Dream and the Mirror….)

Okay – going by the turn order, Sian and Alyce got their attacks in Turn 1.

Then in Turn 2, the spirit did his breath thing, then Shrike shot it – skipped ahead of Al but I am totally happy for Al to have held the action – Teamwork makes the dream work!!!

So next is me – just movement and free actions to drop weapons and then Complex to talk to Dream.

If Dream does let the kid go, please don’t assume Al will then just let him take a bite…..

If the effective BGC for Sian is 5, that will reduce her spell force by 5, right?

Is there any chance that either Shrike or Sian would know what Dream said before disappearing? If not, Alyce’s ears have recorded the words and perhaps the Old One can tell us what he said.

As for turning to mist – is there any chance, that Shrike could just charge it and punch the mist with his Blight laced fists? The stuff ignores the immunity to natural weapons and should have a chance to drop him back into his normal form.

    Great idea, Jack!!!

    @Aria

a little unclear on the layout in here, so just to get on the same page…

The spirit bashed the entrance to this whole place at the top of the stairs, thereby sealing us in…but that doesn’t mean the whole place comes crashing down, just that the front door is now blocked with stone?

And that entrance, being at the top of the stairs, that is at the top of the pyramid?

And is the spirit still in here with us, or on the outside?

Are there light sources in here? Torches or something?

There are ways out that go deeper inside, right? The priests were trying to escape that way….

The other guards/victims that are around freaking out because of the scream – still all incapacitated?

    Thanks!

I think that Sian might be able to muster a spell of enough force to allow her to dig out of the pyramid, maybe.

Does the blood spirit stay around if his summoner is dead? Would it not just go back to the place it came from?

And that entrance, being at the top of the stairs, that is at the top of the pyramid? Yes

And is the spirit still in here with us, or on the outside? Oh it’s in here with you… somewhere…

Are there light sources in here? Torches or something? For some strange reason they all seem to have been snuffed out by the destruction of the door above <muah hah ha>

There are ways out that go deeper inside, right? The priests were trying to escape that way…. You hope… < more evil maniacal laughter>

The other guards/victims that are around freaking out because of the scream – still all incapacitated? Yes, recovering from paralyzing howl takes minutes not seconds

Does the blood spirit stay around if his summoner is dead? Would it not just go back to the place it came from? That’s if it was summoned… what if it was a pissed off FREE blood spirit…?! <muah hah… you get the idea 😀 >

Dream effectively spent edge to escape… no point setting you all up with a nemesis if you dispatch him before he’s begun his nefarious schemes 😀

@Mercy… I think you ought to make a modified addiction roll of some sort for draining the soldier in here… it’s one you really really don’t want to do badly at!!!

Logic + Will test and a Bod + Will (it is physically – the virus – and physiologically addictive). Addiction threshold for both tests would normally be 2 (SR p 414) but in this instance I think we’ll pitch it at 3 due to the outside influences at play here…

    WIL + LOG = 13. Addiction Resistance: 13d6t5 3

    WIL + BOD = 14. Addiction Resistance: 14d6t5 4

Sian passed both tests, although the psychological one was close. She wants to distribute to essence she has just stolen and then get some more, depending on how much time they will let her take.

I edited my IC post to account for the advancing spirit. Sian will just have to hope that she can finish the job after they deal with the spirit.

Sian casts Light at F20. The BGC reduces the casting roll to 15. Cast Spell (Light): 15d6t5 6

I am assuming that the force of the spell for drain purposes is not reduced by the BGC, so is F-4, or 16. Drain: 16d6t5 4

    Drain resistance is LOG 6 + WIL 7 + Centering 7 = 20d6. Resist Drain: 20d6t5 13

LOL, I guess that Sian really wanted to resist that drain. Please let me know if I have done this correctly.

Impressive – though not particularly necessary, since we all have low light vision/ultrasound/Infrared and access to flashlights 😉

True all that, but it’s still cool.

Al will charge the thing straight out of the light, the better to hold its attention.
Doesn’t matter if I take it down – Shrike’s anti-magic bullet shooting, Alyce helping the kid, and Sian maybe going after Dream in mist form are all more important, so Al just wants to keep its attention.

Do I need a new initiative?
    Initiative again: 16+4d6 31

I’ll skip the Full Offense this time, and attack from behind, but still will Charge, with Centering and Called Shot: Vitals.
    And pre-Edge.
    Attack spirit: 22d6h5 9
Damage is 9P + net hits, Killing Hands + Spirit Hunter combo.

Feel free to roll for the spirit… it will go full defence ?

Great – that’s all we need, is for it not to bother the others!

I guess we need its initiative
    initiative again: 36+2d6 42
So I guess its first action on 42 was smashing the entrance shut.

Then Al goes on 31, and it goes on full-D dropping its initiative to 22.

    Full defense: 54d6t5 15

Well, I made him work for it!

He goes next on 22, Al on 21.
No idea where everyone else is.

    @Jack_Spade

So you forgot to penalize it for dodging your attack after mine…not that it would have made any difference!!!

Much more importantly, if we are both fighting it, how is proximity to your Void mixed with the 14 BCG going to affect Al?

Theoretically, the BGC would go down to 11, but we established that that’s not how it works, so instead it would go up to 17 – which is why I hung back right now. And also why I didn’t just toss a gas grenade at the thing (wouldn’t want to blight Al)

Well, down to 11 would be nice.

    And 17 would be disastrous.

For the grenade, it would only hurt magical stuff, right?
Instead of throwing it, you could just pop it and hold it yourself, staying in proximity to the spirit.

Give Al the signal and he’ll get clear.
Heck, give him the signal and toss him the shotgun – he can shoot it with that stuff while you hold the gas on it.
