Spoiler:Spoiler:Kynos lined up perfectly for something clinging to the wall above the door, but the thing threw itself out into the air and got itself out of the way of the burst of bullets. The move should have cost it the leverage to strike hard, but the spiked arms? legs? forelimbs? didn’t waiver in their line towards the big man.

Kynos made one precise step away, so he didn’t get hit from the thing and also didn’t obscure line of sight for his chummers.

Lily barely had time to register the skittering thing as Kynos’ shots rang out but it was clearly a threat, and likely the cause for the blood smears on the window. Whilst she didn’t know whether the blight round would be effective there was every chance that this horror could launch more than claws at them and if that could be prevented it might level the playing field a little…taking a moment to try and judge its position the heavy revolver roared its protest at the abomination

[Spoiler]Dodge vs Lilly: 12d6t5 3[/spoiler]
The thing was moving quickly and evasively, but not particularly effectively when it came to Lilly’s shot, and the bulky round caught one spiked appendage.
The result was a piercing shriek, then the thing fell to the floor, moving suddenly more slowly — how much from the blight and how much from the plunging mana levels as the small chamber equalized with the larger rooms low mana it would be hard to say.
It could be more clearly seen now, vaguely Griffin-oid, if Griffins had webbed wings, mantis forelegs, clumps of short tentacles where their eyes should be, and flanks covered in eyes of all sizes and shapes.
[Spoiler]it is now at -5 from the mana levels, plus the effect of the blight. You can probably just narrate finishing it off if you’d like [/spoiler]

The world became so much fast around bronwean. The real world sucked. The squealing, flailing horror dropped into her line of sight. Her mind blanked out the swirling mass of the world as she aimed a three round burst at it head. The round bit into the beast, each one exasperated the damage of the predecessor

Kynos nodded: “Eyes sharp, where that came from there could be others.”
The tall elf returned to his previous position and began to enter the chamber, looking around for further fiends.

She gave them the big thumbs up and check both thermal and ultra sound were working be motion detection was tracking.
“Signal me when you want me to close up”

In the small chamber, Kynos could hear a low, exhausted sounding, wailing coming from the next room. The lights were, but in the small amount of light they’d brought this far he could see that the porthole window in the door looked clear. Thermographic vision was not picking anything up through the haze of the window, but light (or radar) might provide more information.
As Kynos checked out the room, Batshit felt a faint tremor for the worse in the ambient mana, and noticed a trickle of thin smoke coming from just above the door between the room and the small chamber. On closer inspection, there was a panel unobtrusively set above the door, with a small nozzle from the smoke seemed to be coming.

“Something tells me, that the nephew is either in trouble or not here at all.”
Kynos peered through the porthole, trying to make out what was going on in there.

Lily acknowledged Batshit’s violent coup de grace and spared a quick glance for the twitching abomination before focusing her attention on the rest of the chamber whilst the smart motor in her revolver loaded another one of her precious Blight rounds in to the firing position…

What little light they were producing was largely blocked by Kynos’ own frame, and there was no light in the next room, but he thought he could make out some darker lumps in the room. He was still trying to resolve shapes when something smacked wetly against the window, then peeled off with a sucking sound. Kynos was able to backtrack the motion to one of the large lumps of greater darkness, and could vaguely make out a roughly frog-like shape, about the size of a small cow.

“Looks like they have got themselves an astral parasite infestation. If I remember correctly, those toad demons multiply around sources of Mana. And they aspect it as well as produce some pretty sticky shit. Better get some more blight ready.”
Kynos took his own advice and broke another capsule round to freshen up the coating he had given his fists earlier.

Batshit listened to kynos and nodded. She swapped out her magazine for her blight round and shifted her selector to single shot to conserve the precious rounds. This was the second time she had encountered these kind of things, if this was the future of the planet may be she should look into moving to Mars or something.

“I’m switching to internal air. Batshit, please open the door for me, I need to get the timing for my shot right.”
Standing well back, so he could make out the shape of the toad through the small window, Kynos took several seconds to aim.
“Now.”

Bronwean pulled the zipper up on her armour and triggered the chemseal on the mask. Then she yanked the lever and heaved the door open then got ready to either slam it shut or move to cover the team as they entered.

As soon as Lily saw the suspicious smoke she diverted her breathing to her internal air tank and then, mimicking Kynos’ actions, Lily sprung the vicious cyber spur from her left arm and broke open one of the precious Blight rounds she had and applied it to the blade. If these were astral threats then she’d been told that bullets were likely to have less of an impact than something fuelled by strength of will… and her will was strong! She briefly mused that her desire to help people seemed to lead her in to crazy situations more often than she’d like but now was not the time to be evaluating her path…not that she would ever stray from it, her convictions were too strong!

Kynos smartly stepped out of the airlock so he was able to dodge whatever else was around here, while lining up his next shot.

Kynos stepped into the chamber, and without a window in his way his optics could pull out more detail of the room. It looked like there were a few meta-human bodies spread out on the floor, with a toad sitting near each of them. In addition while there were several scuttling forms on the floor at least as long as the meta-human bodies, and several more forms whipping quickly through the air, similar to the creature that had been in the mana-lock.
Scuttlers and mantis-bats all charged in toward Kynos, getting into each way so that only the first couple of each were able to reach him.
