    The spoiler tags don’t tolerate carriage returns (Enter) in the middle of them. At least, not without prematurely ending the spoiler.

    If you want to force the next line without it falling out of the Spoiler tag, you need to use the <br code. Close it off with a > and make sure there’s a space before the < and after the > (i.e. so that’s its freestanding and not connected to text before or after it). Just use it on its own where you want to break the line; it doesn’t need a /br to finish it.

    @Tecumseh

    Thanks for the tip

    @gilga

    A memory test would have done the trick as well:

    Liu was your first customer, whose son you saved from the Halloweeners

    For the Spoiler carriage return, @tecumseh solution works (all html tags should work) or you can simply press Shift+Enter to escape to the next line.

    Sounds like we’re wrapping up. I’ll need to go back and remind myself of what we earned (payment, selling the explosive, selling the card) unless someone kept better records than I did.

    How are people doing with the pace? I know @beta is about to kick off his game any day now. I have an Interlude and a Chapter lined up that would fit well once Bobby is back ICly, which would be mid-November ICly (about two weeks after Chapter 4 that we’re finishing) but I don’t want people to drown.

    I’ll add some info about what happens a week later, but yes, in essence this chapter is finished

    Just for bookkeeping:

    1. We got 24k from Janet.

    2. We sold the explosives for 10k and we owe 1k to Jhonny. 5k Nguyen, 5k Renkeru corpscrip.

    3. We sold the card for 25k – and Janet never mentioned it afterward (oversight?).

    @gilga Awesome, thank you.

    Mato paid ~¥100 in bribes/tips too, but I’m fine with that coming out of his total to make the math easier.

    Renraku corpscrip is called “Renraku Yen” or “Yenraku” if you’re feeling cute. The Neo-Anarchist Streetpedia notes that “most banks charge at least a twenty percent service fee to convert corp scrip over to nuyen.” That means the ¥5,000 would actually be worth ¥4,000 if we convert it. We don’t have to convert it if there are Renraku products that we’re looking to purchase, but I presume our debts are our highest priorities.

    (This also presumes that Jack didn’t pull a fast one on us and have the Brain Eaters pay us in actual Renraku Yen, which has a conversion rate of 5R¥ to 1¥, in which case that half of their payment is only worth ¥1,000. This would be fairly devious but I personally would approve of it because it would make for interesting downstream effects in the coming story lines.)

    If we’re not including Janet on the card (Mato wouldn’t) and we split things four ways (as we’ve been doing, including expenses) then the total is ¥57,000, or ¥14,250 per person. Then the SINners subtract taxes.

    @jack_spade Is it time for a karma award then?

    @all Are people ready for / interested in another Interlude + Chapter? I would GM both. They are connected, and are related to the past Interludes (and some of the events of Chapter 4).

    – Interlude + Chapter sounds good to me.

    – AM would probably not cut Janet in if she does not have to. Janet did not mention it so it did not happen.

    Interlude + Chapter sounds good

    The money sounds about right. It’s tempting to have the Braineaters cheat us on that one, but I think they are actually interested in getting more boom stuff in the future.

    What do you think? Was I too generous for our agreed upon theme?

    As for Karma, I think 15 base for the job and another 5 for solving the whole thing peacefully without making any new enemies. So 20 total.

    (Did the PC of the GM get something too, or did we agreed to just rotate GM duties to average it out?)

    Pretty sure that we agreed the GM’s character gets teh same awards (so no penalty for GMing if rotation is imperfect)

    In my head I’ve been dividing everything four ways since the beginning. I don’t think we have an explicit explanation about why we would do this ICly, other than, “We’re all in this together.” Given that we’re all Native, I can imagine some rejection of the economic systems of the UCAS and CAS, at least to the point where we feel and act more communally than individually. The math above gives Bobby one-quarter share, per this understanding. (There could be an interesting story line in this. Mato lost his family and I can imagine him identifying SIS as his new family. Not sure what the family situation for the other PCs is, other than AM’s father.)

    The reward is not too generous (although I’m also fine if the Brain Eaters cheat us because it would interesting). The reality is that we’re coming up on our 18-month anniversary of the game, which will be at the end of February. Just as the karma awards scale more to the OOC timeline than the IC one, the nuyen rewards can too. I was already planning on Chapter V having the potential for an above-average reward, so this is the direction I was going to move things anyway.

    Mato can now pay off the last ¥10,000 of his debt. Him going to do so will explain his absence in the coming Interlude + Chapter.

    I’ve also been playing Mato smarter than Logic 2, so I’ll spend 15 karma to boost him to Logic 3. I’ll spend 4 karma to pay off his last two ranks of In Debt. That leaves him with 3 karma (including 2 unspent from prior chapters) that I’ll probably put toward advancing a skill once I think about it a little more.

    @all Can I get a count of where everyone’s debt stands after the payout of Chapter IV?

    So I think we need to pay November expenses before the next interlude kicks off?

    ETA: I haven’t figures out all of Jawsey’s spends after this run, but he will buy off another level of in debt, leaving him at 2.

    ETA2: In the last run I’d based payments on it being split 3 ways, and had assumed Jawsey was ‘making equivalent’ in the work he was doing for the Vory (but channeled most of that into buying off a level of in-debt — in essence they offered to reduce what he owed and pay him a bit). If you all divided the pay 4 ways I may have paid out less than I’d intended. Which is water under the bridge now, but I apologize if it ended up being on the stingy side.

    ETA3: and I’d forgotten to respond to the pacing/readiness question. Looks like this will be my only game as a player, so yes happy to have it go ahead whenever it is good for everyone else.

    November payments were made after the last Interlude / prior to this Chapter. Lifestyle costs were covered by a commercial lifestyle roll. Debt payments should have been handled individually.

    We can go with the “making equivalent” approach but it doesn’t make as much sense for every absence, like Bobby’s initiation. But we can change that understanding going forward if we want.

    I’ll set up a room for the next Interlude sometime later this week.

    Well in the first run we had Lorebane GMing, so we split 4 ways. In the second, we had Ginsburg – and I advanced AM the same as everyone else excusing it as her doing some other run for her debtor. We did split 4 ways but we were 5.

    In other runs I am not sure, I thought we split 3 ways – but I did not actually do the calc.

    About debt: AM still owes 52.5K since we already paid for debt/lifestyle she’ll buy off 1 level of debt if we split 4 ways – and 2 levels if we split 3 ways. each level is 7.5k (and she is currently In debt 7.)

    It may be nice to keep Bobby fed (splitting 4 ways) even if he is away understanding that we need to care for him while he speaks to the great spirts or so forth – but that also implies a lot of character growth and a feeling of peoplehood/small tribe/family because it is a big deal for our characters. Especially for AM that owes an arm and a leg.

    I went back and reviewed Chapter 3. The phrasing was “How about another 5000 for each of you” so the payment was per person rather than a lump sum.

    Loot – like the card or explosives – is obviously a lump sum payment that needs to be divided.

    Do people prefer dividing by 3 and the GM’s PC just makes the same from their off-screen activities?

    I’d have no problem if the team didn’t cut in Bobby – but he certainly won’t earn any money during his hermit ordeal.

    I’ll leave the decision to your characters, but would remind them that they too might have to take time off for initiation or upgrades in the future. We aren’t salaried but we all own equal shares in the agency. So any profits have to go through the company account anyways.

    So a compromise would be to cut Bobby in with the official contract salary, but keep the card and the explosives proceeds off the books.

    When I get home I’ll look into Bobby’s financial status, but I have bought off the karma cost of my debts already. So all he has to do now is pay off the remaining sum to be free (and therefore able to lend money to his co-workers, so they can do the same)

    AM values what Bobby does so she’ll have no problem cutting him in in the loot. To make sure that he has enough for rent/debt and for fairness. We are all Sioux so it may be an interesting direction to take our relationships (which also falls in line with Bobby’s intention of lending the money to other team members to help finish off debt quicker.

    For OOC reasons I suggest, it would be the entire loot and not just the formal pay. E.g. until now the character that did not participate in the adventure gained the same karma and money doing other things off scenes.

    She is also going through an initiation, but she is unlikely to give up an opportunity to work to do so (so no ordeals for her).
